Well as i have previously stated, i see "Calgary Bay" as a 2010 Gold cup
candidate,so in my humblest of opinions i will be amazed if he can beat
the extemely talented "Free World" at those weights over the 2m1f around
Ascot! I am looking at 2 horses for this years Arkle (Forpadydeplasterer and Free world) both who look specialist 2 milers! I will eat my humble pie if i"m wrong, but i haven"t had a slice with a cup of tea for ages!

TAPK likes to stay loyal to horses he thinks have ability!I wrote this in January and all 3 are more than capable!A much needed confidence boost today after "Razor" got mugged! He still ran an absolute blinder though!

Free world is another to keep an eye on come March for the Grand annual chase! Classic stuff from the King who has had a slice or 2 of humble pie since writing the above!

Expect a big price reshuffle if Dave’e Dream turns out on Friday. 33/1 still available…won’t be when he hacks up.

    Fist

Couldn’t agree more and having taken 50/1 EW(on the AP List)a few weeks back I will grab a bit more of the 33/1 this morning with VC or Coral as I fully expect him to hack up today (and more importantly so do the stable!!)
    Get On!

    Ascot now abondoned 7.10am!

I know someone called Dave [we all know someone called Dave, I guess] so I’ve given him an ante postbet on Dave’s Dream at 33/1 [and had one for me as well].

Another Dave, Duggan, thinks that Sizing Europe is an absolute certainty to win the Arkle – and he is also convinced that he’s the best novice chaser he’s seen in a long, long time. Apparently, he’ll also hack up at the weekend.

Dave’s Dream is down to run on Tuesday at Newbury over 2m2f. Kempton would be way too sharp for him but Newbury should be ideal as it looks like being a decent race.

One that is in at Kempton is Crack Away Jack. He in the Wayward Lad but so is his Kangaroo Court. CAJ is also in the Desert Orchid, KC isn’t so the chances are she will run him

Petit Robin worked like a dream the other day (Video on RP, Well Chief a likely runner, PH has Imsingingtheblues and to top it up Fix the Rib is in there surely this is too much too soon.

If she thinks it’s what he needs to bring out the best in him as he makes mistakes when going slow she’ll get what she wants against them at Kempton. Why Kempton at all?

I’d be sending him and a pacemaker to Carlisle…….I wish her luck and it would be great if he could win one of the two races but it’s times like this I wish she would be more patient.

Why Captain Cee Bee isn’t clear favourite for the Arkle is beyond me. Truly shocked at the price still on offer.

I’m holding back to see what the next 3 days brings with Crack Away Jack, River Theatre and Dave’s Dream all on show. It could easily all change again but one of them or all of them are going to have to do something special to affect the betting.

It would seem the lads from the yard have been helping themselves to some long odds about Dave’s Dream on Betfair. There were a lot of small bets the day before he was due to run at Ascot and there’s been even more this time having gone from 35 to 20 in the last few hours. The fact he kicks everything into touch at home of course doesn’t mean he’ll do it on the racecourse but roll on Tuesday when we’ll find out.

I was happy to see Crack Away Jack lose today. He is still my no.1 hope for the Arkle. He didn’t jump great today but I feel the ground would have been too soft and the race was a decent one. He was given a quietish ride by Noel Fehily and still think he’s the one I am with.

Its a fact that cheltenham festival form is a very key factor for each festival…and Crack Away Jack has that.

Doug, Crack away Jack has No Chance, absolutely No chance of winning the Arkle!Todays performance proved he is not a fencer! Somersby will jump and quicken away from them all!

The Arkle picture is starting to look alot clearer now imo. Several horses who are prominent in the betting are the wrong price imo. I don’t know how anyone could back Sizing Europe or Osana as they are not the best novices in ireland, never mind England. That honour goes to Captain Cee Bee, who was cantering all over Sizing Europe the last day.

The Willie Mullins crew are still very unexposed. It looks as if Mikael D’Haguenet will be aimed at the RSA (entered over 2m5f on Friday), which is a shame imo as he looks tailor made for this. Cousin Vinny was beaten on his fencing debut but the horse who beat him, Roberto Goldback, is no mooch and he is sure to improve for the run, so I wouldn’t write him off just yet either. I don’t think Sports Line is up to winning an Arkle but maybe I’m wrong, and Kempes could be under-rated imo.

Crack Away Jack has been dissapointing, and I don’t know if Somersby will be good enough to handle some of the Irish horses. Tataniano and Riverside Theatre have been impressive but have defeated little of note. I don’t know what the plans are for Medermit but if he goes chasing he could go close.

Overall I feel the Irish form has a stronger look to it and it will take a special performance for anything to beat Captain Cee Bee.

I agree Somersby is a danger. He too has festival form (as i kindly pointed out is very important). My point with Crack Away Jack is that a few defeats need not be a negative come March. It will serve to increase his price and means he could become the value. Thats what I am hoping for.

Why do you think that then thm? if you dont mind me asking, bearing in mind he was closing Go Native down in last years Supreme hurdle at Cheltenham and thats after he went the longest way round!

I just don’t think beating Crack Away Jack and Tchico Polo was the greatest form in the world. However, I do admit he has better claims than most. He goes well at the track and is an improving type who is rightly the shortest price of the British brigade. It is difficult to compare the Irish and English form but I am taking the view that the irish form is better!
