Calico is rated 136, Jonbon 159. I hope the handicapper just leaves Calico’s mark alone.
February 11, 2023 at 18:12 #1635094We will find out on Tuesday morning – I’d imagine he will.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 11, 2023 at 18:13 #1635095It was undoubtedly his least impressive performance over fences to date.
But he still holds the best form over hurdles of the field, he’s shown he can perform when he doesn’t have optimum conditions or in peak race fitness.
El Fabiolo probably had to be A1 to win last week so is it a lot to ask to be wound down then back up in a months time or do they keep him in hard work for a month between races?
I’d of been happier if Jonbon had won by 30l in a canter of course but there’s positives to be taken from todays race as well!
February 11, 2023 at 18:16 #1635096That Leopardstown form looks strong to me – Jonbon might have a job on to confirm those Aintree hurdles placings.

Fortunately I am on him at 14/1, so it is beginning to look like time to lay him back and enjoy the profit.
February 11, 2023 at 18:50 #1635104Sounds like a plan, CAS, because I think El Fabiolo deserves to be clear favourite for this.

I think Jonbon deserves a bit of credit today for having the guts to battle back and win. I honestly thought he was going to finish tailed off when he was overtaken. Even so, that performance would not win him an Arkle.
Coleman had to put a brave face on it but he must have been disappointed.
February 11, 2023 at 19:18 #1635107I hope plenty back El , hopefully I’ll get 5/2 on the day , Henderson didn’t look bothered at all , 4 weeks he’ll be cherry ripe

February 14, 2023 at 23:39 #1635490HDLG, Nicky’s comments don’t mirror how he looked well. He did seem a little surprised + also has since said “watching it was awful” ?
The best form shown this year over fences by any 2mile novice chaser by a country mile is El Fabiolo.
Jonbon was out for a prep, i won’t debate that, but he showed some frailties for sure. Wasn’t his foot perfect-self when a horse below decided to question him for once- and that horse is way below the level he’ll face in March.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!March 4, 2023 at 13:37 #1637776Fair to say Calico is worth more than 136
March 4, 2023 at 22:05 #1637860lol HDLG
imagine comparing Calico to the DRF 2m G1…..and then harping on about the King George….

March 4, 2023 at 23:39 #1637864He isnt though HDLG, beat a 142 horse a nose getting 5lbs, with the correct horse in 3rd, if anything it cements the fact hes a 136 horse and tarnishes jonbon further
