Just been told by Betfair they have revoked my BOG Sportsbook a/c but they kindly allowed me to use their Exchange.
I’ve been with them just over a year and betting a max. of £50, many bets of under i have managed to win maybe £200 if that, so they e-mail me with the news that we’re finished.
After a prolonged phone call and an exchange on their chatline they have told me no reason but just my betting history has resulted in this decision.
I find this hilarious, over 40 yrs i have lost thousands with various firms so i am hardly a ‘face’ and i’m bewildered by this funny occurence and wonder if any other Betfair customers have experienced this
September 7, 2017 at 12:48 #1316828They all judge by the shape of your betting these days, I think, rather than your profit/loss figures.
Software will tell them that in the long run you are likely not to give them enough to make it worthwhile.
Good of them to allow you on the Exchange where, of course, you become risk free for them and a guaranteed money-maker
September 7, 2017 at 12:57 #1316829I have never seen the point of Betfair Sportsbook, I always use the Exchange.

September 7, 2017 at 15:49 #1316839Blue, are you beating SP regularly, win or lose?
September 7, 2017 at 16:09 #1316842I believe Betfair sportsbook came about when the betting site blue square went t!ts up, they took over the bookie part of it and unsettled bets if I remember rightly.

VTC,i don’t keep records but i do bet the opening shows the previous afternoon due to the BOG, i do it with 10 other online firms and have never been told to foxtrot oscar for doing so, after 365 did their PR disaster on that young Irish lass i’m thinking some firms are just a joke.
September 7, 2017 at 17:56 #1316854Yeah Blue, could be a number of reasons I suppose, the “beating SP” angle is always the first one that springs to mind.

I’m sorry to protract this but for a £200 (ballpark) profit over more than a year of multi bets with this high profile firm that cannot give me a simple reason for ditching me after a prolonged phonecall (paid by me) and an online ‘we’ll get back to you’ that they never did i am just astounded that i seem to be the only recipient of their wonderful PR, surely this has happened other punters ?.
I’ve several other firms that i use so i am not going to continue boring this forum with this very unusual banning order they have issued me.
September 7, 2017 at 21:38 #1316870The issue has been done to death on here Blue1878 over the years, I’m sure you’ll find the threads if you need more info.
Needless to say bookmakers are just licensed thieves who don’t want any risk from horse racing punters. Lots of punters don’t even bother with bookmakers these days, it’s a waste of time and not worth the effort.
A Micky Mouse racecourse called Kentucky Downs was running maiden races last night and tonight for 130k, Matt Chapman said “Are you watching Nick Rust?”. Meanwhile we are still regularly running maiden races for 2 grand. It’s pathetic and thoroughly depressing.
Worst thing British horse racing ever did was hooking up with bookmakers. Every single aspect of the sport is corrupted by them.
September 7, 2017 at 22:50 #1316886Really interesting thread
Beat SP with Boyles and welcome to poker but will eject savvy punters asap
Paddy Power restricted me after the back of a losing run but snaffled 16s on Jack Hobbs on the Hardwick and that was enough to press the eject button. Lost that bet. Now restricted to £2.74 on anything over 20/1
Betfair not restricted me yet, probably because I’m using the exchanges so often.
For the record I’m not a big player most of the year. The largest bet I ever played with PP £200 lost. Now I’m restricted
September 8, 2017 at 00:00 #1316893I’d imagine they would eject you if you were too disciplined aswell
Billion in the systems is very regimental and too tight fisted to give anything back
I think you need to whack in a few 5p lucky 31’s and things like that now and again, also if you have a big win stick £10 in the slots at 10p stakes, you probably loses a few quid, you might win a few quid but it shows them you are a mug and more likely to be kept on.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 8, 2017 at 06:32 #1316895Indeed, P/L not at all relevant to the decision.
I’d say Betfair Sportsbook have less tolerance for accounts than any firm – most people I know would just laugh if you suggested having a bet on with them. They are often the first firm to go up with a race the day before – often with godawful wonky prices. Wrongly (given that it’s effectively pro compiler v amateur compiler at this stage), they will not tolerate anyone who picks off their mistakes. That’s just not cricket when you think that Paddy Power Betfair own Timeform and use TF staff as compilers.
If you were playing straight bets (no e/w slime, not putting on for someone and not arbing) I’d guess that you either took one too many of their overnight sweets or you were just unlucky to clash with something else and were incorrectly marked up.
