German horses and deep ground is a bit of a cliche but then you get something like this happen, beaten by Alpinista two starts back, I wonder what Sir Mark Prescott is thinking right about now.
Didn’t see the race turning out like this at all but I guess jocks were mindful of the deep ground and trying to ride so they got home – doubt the winner will uphold this form on anything other than deep ground but congrats to connections, not bad for a trainer who I believe is in his second year!
October 3, 2021 at 15:25 #1562224At least Hein will be happy for a change..
Nice shout Ian.
Snowfall travelled very sweet throughout, didn’t quite go through with her effort or didn’t stay in the goingCharles Darwin to conquer the World
October 3, 2021 at 15:33 #1562225Or maybe she isn’t as good as you think she is, Nathan. 😉
Disappointed by Adayar- thought he had the race in safe keeping when he quickened clear turning in but I suppose the recent setback and lack of a prep race told as he folded tamely in the last furlong. There’s no chance he doesn’t stay- you don’t pull like a train around Ascot and hack up in the King George without staying.
October 3, 2021 at 15:34 #1562226Wow, that’s some call Ian. Well done sir
October 3, 2021 at 15:35 #1562227Maybe but she still cruised through the race
I was right about Adayar, couldn’t get a gallop going despite the easy leadCharles Darwin to conquer the World
October 3, 2021 at 15:37 #1562228Adayar didnt handle the ground according to buick
Just a few weeks after the leger it has to be said that hurricane lane has run a huge race
October 3, 2021 at 15:38 #1562229Good luck to connections of the winner, the best arc for the past ten years yea right.
I said after derby poor race and all you lot could say poor loser [didn’t have a bet in the race]
don’t see us having many winners at the Breeders Cup. Roll on the jumps season.
October 3, 2021 at 15:40 #1562230To be fair, take the winner and the 5th horse Sealiway out and the first 5 home is Tarnarwa, Hurricane Lane, Adayar, Snowfall and Chrono Genesis so whilst the ground has obviously played a big part with the winner outside of that the best horses are still all there.
October 3, 2021 at 16:09 #1562233“The best horses are still all there.”
But none of them were good enough to beat an 80/1 chance.
October 3, 2021 at 16:29 #1562240“Barely raceable ground brings the two Adlerflugs – Torquato Tasso (100/1) and Alenquer – into it
Good call.”
I’m not gonna lie – I’ve had it RIGHT OFF.
Three-figure prices win only at Betfair Exchange, each-way with those books who will still take a bet off me, the works.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 3, 2021 at 16:29 #1562241And that is where the ground component comes into play – he dealt with closer to NH conditions the best whilst the others were inconvenienced enough that they couldn’t show their very best form.
Extremes of ground can be (and was today) a great leveller – all of his winning form has come with the word soft in the description (also second on heavy in a G1 in Germany) whilst on good ground he was put firmly in his place by Alpinista who was never considered for an Arc and had to go to Germany to win her two G1 races.
It will be interesting to see what their plans are for him, will he run in BC Turf/Japan Cup/Hong Kong Vase and/or stay in training and attempt a shot at the KG, in which he would encounter much better ground than today.
October 3, 2021 at 16:32 #1562243Well done ID.

Spot on with the Alderflug connection, I chose the wrong one there.
I hope you had a late change of mind and got on that
Jac”Thanks, Jac – that will keep the wolf from the door, my head above water, and put hot dinners on the table for a while – quite a while!

October 3, 2021 at 16:38 #1562250Thank you, HDLG.

I know the horse well. I looked into backing him but only as I thought I could get 150/1 on him which wasn’t available.
Once again we underestimate a German horse in the arc.
