Every flat season I look for an apprentice to follow through the season. There isn’t always one that stands out but for 2010 I sure like the look of J P Fahy. A polished enough performer already judged by his rides on the likes of Dansili Dancer and D’unno. Fahy looks like getting decent support from a good stable known for handicapping coups. His claim is a bonus.
Who do you think will be a rider of the future or even one to make a profit from in 2010?

Value Is EverythingApril 4, 2010 at 16:11 #287503Gary Carroll obviously is the best apprentice riding anywhere at the moment.
Shane Foley is another gud’un.
Young O Brien could go well with a few outside rides.
April 4, 2010 at 16:22 #287506I agree with Chiswickian. Fahy is also likely to get more good rides for Jeremy Gask this year.
April 4, 2010 at 16:27 #287507I’ve followed Pádraig Beggy to good effect over the last few years. Usually there or thereabouts in the Derrinstown series races.
I’d say Tommy Cooper’s young lad will ride a good few winners this season. I’ve been impressed with him over obstacles.
Gary Carroll’s brother Tim is another one to look out for.
April 4, 2010 at 17:36 #287518Paul Pickard rides for some small stables at present but he has really impressed me this winter and if he can get a few lucky breaks, he could do really well. Cracking value for his claim.
April 4, 2010 at 17:54 #287522Gary Carroll is an exceptional rider
April 4, 2010 at 22:04 #287564Martin Lane who has ridden a few winners for D Shaw looks like he knows where the winning line is!!

Agreed! I am a big fan of Barry McHugh too. He’ll probably lose his claim soon but he is ultra-reliable, especially in sprints.
