By my calculations, he’s ridden 2835 winners in UK.
Just out of interest, does anyone know how many he’s ridden in Ireland, as if it’s more than 100, then he’s fast approaching the landmark, tho’ doubtless the racing media will only start getting frothy when he gets near 3000 UK winners, which barring injury will be around this time next year.
I can’t recall that he’s ridden a winner in France or any other jumps outposts.
September 27, 2008 at 01:01 #182448Nobody know? As in AP Irish winners.
September 27, 2008 at 01:12 #182450Racing Post stats only go back 5 years methinks, and AP’s first winner was at Thurles or somewhere similar in 1994. Was just hoping there may be a statto at large who could help. Cheers.
September 27, 2008 at 03:18 #182463Wikipedia says : McCoy rode his first winner, "Legal Steps", at Thurles on 26 March 1992
It also gives his season totals from the 1994/5 season when he started riding in england to the 2007/8 season as 2769 winnners
So, on top of the 2769 you can add this seasons winners plus anything he rode between and including that first winner and the start of the 1994/5 season in england
being lazy myself, i’d email atr as it sound like the sort of thing they’d love to answer
September 27, 2008 at 12:10 #182479Thanks Simon.
The 2769 on Wikipedia, which I’d updated for his 2008-9 winners, only relates to his UK winners (well not strictly UK, as winners @ Down Royal and Downpatrick don’t count as UK winners, even tho’ they are in the UK…)
He must have ridden quite a few before he came to England, and of course has the odd foray during the season over to Ireland.
As you say, perhaps a lazy email to ATR on a day when they have got some jumping on.
Cheers
September 27, 2008 at 12:21 #182481According to http://www.irish-racing.com, Mccoy has ridden 55 winners in Ireland in all seasons since 2000/01. Their database doesn’t go back any further than that so can’t help with prior to his moving to England.
The full stats are probably in the back of his autobiography but I leant mine to somebody and haven’t seen it since!
