Just a quick question, does anyone here have any news on Shining Gale who pulled up very lame on Saturday? Am just hoping he’s going to be ok long term.

I have in the past and find that people are pleased that you are concerned.

November 23, 2009 at 10:10 #260105I too hope that Shining Gale is ok.
I was amazed at how long it took Noel Fehily to get off Shining Gale though as you could see the horse was lame as it ran to the line, a very gutsy horse who won despite being injured possibly at the last fence.
November 23, 2009 at 10:43 #260107** I have an update on Shining Gale **
The horse has fractured his pedal bone, he is expected to make a full recovery although he will be out for some time.

November 23, 2009 at 11:43 #260122and thank goodness he kept the race as well; it would have been rotten to lose it…
November 24, 2009 at 20:47 #260372Thank you for your help everyone, it’s nice to know I wasn’t the only one wondering about him.
November 24, 2009 at 21:25 #260382I’m glad this was not a career threatening injury (or worse). I think this horse could have made an impact this season (I included him in my tote10tofollow) and his performance on Saturday only backed up my view.
Hopefully he will be raring to go next season.
Get well soon SG, enjoy the time off.
November 24, 2009 at 22:23 #260388I wish we had a vet on this forum.
Apparently it is a similar injury to the one that Arkle got at the end of his career.
Puts a doubt into my head about whether he’ll be back.
November 24, 2009 at 23:59 #260392Thats just what I thought, but perhaps veterinary medicine has moved on from those days and there is more that can be done..it’s just that horse’s ‘feet’ [for want of a more technical term] are just a tad complicated..but then I am the eternal pessimist…
