Who moved eastwards across the Atlantic to David Wachman’s stable after the BC.
Entered in all 3 Guineas-but no sign yet of a prep race?
April 13, 2008 at 14:36 #157658Cup winner to have prep for Guineas
Published: 09/02/2008 (News) Paul Haigh
NOWNOWNOW, who last year won the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, will have a prep race in Ireland this spring before being aimed for the 2,000 Guineas after being switched to David Wachman’s yard, writes Paul Haigh.
The former Patrick Biancone-trained son of Whywhy why, due to arrive in Ireland next month, will almost certainly have his prep in the Loughbrown Stakes over 7f at The Curragh on April 13.
The troubled Biancone is currently serving a ban after cobra venom was found in one of his Kentucky barns.
Yesterday in Paris he was in characteristically ebullient form, looking forward to what will be the first tilt at a European Classic by a colt who did his two-year-old racing in the States since Fourstars Allstar won the Irish Guineas in 1991.
As Biancone’s ban had started, Nownownow ran in the name of Francois Parisel at the Breeders’ Cup.
Looking at the Guineas, Biancone said: "I would say he has a very good chance. He won the Breeders’ Cup in a canter, and he’s going to be a man against boys, because he’s run six times on turf, dirt and Polytrack. He’s very seasoned and he knows how to street fight, and he has a huge turn of foot."
Nownownow, who beat Ballydoyle’s Achill Island on sodden ground at Monmouth Park, has close connections with Biancone.
"I own a big piece of the father," he said.
"And I own shares in the mother, the sister and the brother. Nownownow is owned by my partner Fabien Ouaki, who has been my friend since we were six years old, and Fabien is the son of Jules Ouaki, who was the owner of Bikala, my first French Derby winner. So it would be very satisfying if he won."
David Wachman confirmed the Curragh race was Nownownow’s likely prep, with the only other possibility being at Leopards town over 1m a week earlier. "He’s a very exciting horse," said the trainer. Then this one from the 21st of march
David Wachman, trainer of Nownownow and Great War Eagle
"I’ve only had Nownownow a few weeks and Newmarket is the plan, but we’ll see how he progresses along with Great War Eagle, who is entered in all the Guineas."There was actually a good report on him in the racing post paper a week or so ago, saying something along the lines that he is well and due a run, but it is not on their website for some reason.
April 14, 2008 at 00:12 #157714I was certain Nownownow was not entered for the Loughbrown and on second notice, he sure was not. Would have smoked Georgebernardshaw.
Now what?
April 14, 2008 at 08:11 #157727I checked the Newmarket entries to see if they sneaked him any race there-but nothing.
Looks like they may go to Newmarket, or somewhere else, off 189+ days without a run.
On Saturday he was 300s for the Guineas on Betfair
April 14, 2008 at 20:57 #157806I personally think that the horse is bred for faster underfoot/dirt conditions and with Ireland currently being a quagmire at the minute, it could explain his absence. Would think he should be up to handling the all weather surface well enough though so surprised they havent had a stab at something like a listed race or a tracj gallop at dundalk or something (if there are any that is).
Notice he has an entry in the derrinstown though, but wouldnt know what to make of that.
April 14, 2008 at 23:08 #157825The Wachman yard is very much a yard that is in form or totally out of it along the lines of Alan Swinbank etc and when he is in, he is red hot. However, considering the performance of his runners so far this season, it is one to avoid at present.
Hard to see the horse making the trip to HQ at the moment.
April 14, 2008 at 23:12 #157828If it rains, back the bugger for a place!
April 14, 2008 at 23:15 #157830I would never have bought into a horse whose outstanding form lies in America on a creek. How does that compare to any Classic prospects?
April 15, 2008 at 16:54 #157932RP report that Nownownow is ‘on course’ for the 2000 guineas and that he’ll go straight there without a prep.
Wachman is quoted as saying that the bad ground is the reason behind the lack of recent run but he is planning the guineas for him.

He hasn’t been sold. Patrick Biancone was banned for 1 year I believe. Nownownow was allowed to run in his assistants name at Breeders’ Cup but for 6 months all the Biancone horses had to move to other barns. The assistants can start training 6 months after the ban started.
I believe that Biancone is actually a partner in the horse and they probably took the decision that they weren’t going to lose anything my sending him to Wachman as the first turf race worth any money for 3 year olds in the US is the Colonial Turf Cup in late June.
April 15, 2008 at 22:19 #158006Plus whats the point in having a mudloving turf horse in the US, if it rains they would imply take the race off the turf….
He looks an outsider with an eachway chance if it rains too my mind, I have feeling that New Approach will get beaten in the guineas…..
April 15, 2008 at 23:10 #158017I didn’t mention that Pengamon. I was just saying, I would never want to buy into a colt like that.
April 16, 2008 at 10:21 #158068He isn’t a mudlover, yorkshirepudding. Not according to Biancone anyway. He told me he thought he won at Monmouth in spite of the mud, not because of it.
April 16, 2008 at 10:40 #158070Zorro,
In view of his offences, is it possible that Biancone speaks with forked tongue ?
