Arkle – Felix Yonger e/w 10/1
Champion Hurdle – Annie Power e/w 11/1
Champion Hurdle – Un De Sceaux e/w 14/1 NRNB
Faugheen to win any race 9/2
Champion Bumper – Black Hercules e/w 12/1
Gold Cup – Al Ferof e/w 12/1 NRNBAcca – Sprinter Sacre, Bobs Worth, Big Bucks, Quevega, Faugheen, Black Hercules
Happy enough with most of these so far.

First Lieutenant 16 Gold Cup
Felix Yonger 8 ArkleJanuary 26, 2014 at 15:23 #466129Added another couple;
Sizing Gold E/W @ 33/1 JLT Novice (Jewson) – loved the way this horse jumps. While maybe not the classiest in the field his jumping could get him into the places.
Zarkandar E/W 16/1 World Hurdle – not convinced with Big Bucks & At Fishers Cross as both beaten by the 145 rated Knockara Beau. Nicholls also gave him a positive mention as the "forgotten horse" on the morning Line yesterday. Beaten twice by Annie Power and that horse is none too shoddy

Mossey Joe 10/1
Plenty of ‘ifs’ regarding getting him to the race and then handling the track but on last year’s evidence in terms of ability he is a class apart.
Unfortunately, Saphir Du Rheu isn’t going to run so that’s the second confirmed casualty. No doubt more to follow.
January 27, 2014 at 11:16 #466199"Champagne Fever runs next in the Dr PJ Moriarty Chase over two miles five [furlongs] on February 9. Ruby [Walsh] is fairly keen to bring him back to two miles for the Arkle."
My portfolio looking a lot better if champagne does go arkle.
I’m on champagne at 6s.
Faugheen at 10s for Neptune
Sire du grugy 16s ew for champion chase (i’d rather lose my money on this to see sprinter run true to form)
First Lieutenant 12s ew for Gold Cup
Hurricane fly at 6s for champion hurdleJanuary 29, 2014 at 14:59 #466441Added a £2 Lucky 31 Boylespts
Champagne Fever – Arkle 9/2
Quevega – Mares EVS
Faugheen – Neptune 4/1
Black Hercules – Bumper 8/1
Mossey Joe – Hunters 7/1+ further £1 Trebles on above

3M HCAP CHASE
Shutthefrontdoor 16/1
Not certain to stay 4m or be good enough for the RSA so this looks his most realistic target which if my past history of McManus runners repeats itself he will probably run in one of the other two.
2M4F HCAP CHASE
Tap Knight 25/1
Needless to say ran over the wrong trip last year. Bit of promise at the weekend and price is too big if he turns up.
SUPREME
The Tullow Tank 10/1
I think this will be the target and he is probably good enough to win unless Danny Mullins messes up.
JLT
Djakadam 14/1
Faster ground a concern but progressive and might make a bold bid from the front if allowed to take his chance.
ARKLE
Trifolium 7/1
Should be favourite. The one Valdez has to beat.
TRIUMPH
Adriana Des Mottes 25/1
Been considering this one for quite a while. Might have been worth waiting for NRNB but if she goes this is surely the race. Form compares favourably with Ivan Grozny and I have a feeling she actually wants quicker ground.

Don’t want to mislead anyone. Nicholls was quoted in the Racing Post stating Saphir Du Rheu wouldn’t run but he now appears to be backtracking a little in that a decision will be made on the basis of today’s run. If he wins today that really should be enough in my opinion to book his ticket. Big question mark for me is whether he can continue his progression going left-handed.

NEPTUNE
Faugheen 7/2
Finally caved in. Doesn’t look the greatest price but the market has been heading in one direction only and he isn’t going to get any bigger unless Mullins starts playing games. Stable must have the line to Red Sherlock through Rathvinden.
BUMPER
Tarare 20/1
Speculative but been thinking about this one for a while and he got a positive mention from the owner on ATR. Nothing outstanding amongst those that have run.

Single: Bobsworth @ 6/1
February 4, 2014 at 21:39 #467089Forgot to add Felix Yonger at 7/1 for the Arkle (NRFB), placed before his second to Trifolium. Am hoping he goes for the JLT.

MARES HURDLE
Sirene D’Ainay 14/1 EW
My least favourite race of the meeting as there are never enough really top quality mares to justify it ever being a conditions race. There didn’t appear to be any fluke about the French mare’s performance last year and although the very big odds are not available this time she should really be second favourite.

CHAMPION CHASE
Module 33/1 EW
With doubts about the front two (even if they run) it must be worth a little each-way dabble. Module has course form, stays and jumps well and should improve for a sounder surface.

GRAND ANNUAL
Ted Veale 10/1
On the face of it hasn’t achieved a great deal over fences. That said he takes a hold and big fields and pace are his ideal. If you take a look back to his chasing debut he jumps very well and although eventually beaten a fair way he is still on the bridle two out. If as seems likely this is the target then I doubt double figure odds will be available on the day.
February 16, 2014 at 15:34 #468251My anti-post book looks great, but to be honest I say that every year only to look back after the festival with many regrets and disappointments!!!!
To date I have the following
£50 win Kings Palace for the AB at 16s VC Bet
£50 win Faugheen for the Neptune at 14s VC Bet
£50 Win Cue Card for the Gold Cup at 25s VC Bet
and Cue card to win Betfair and GC at 66s with Hills
£50 win Ballycasey for the RSA at 25s with VC Bet
£50 win Al ferof for the Ryanair at 10s with VC
(VC have done well with me this year!!! most are NRFB)
£100win Rock on Ruby to win Arkle at 16s with Corals
£100ew First Leutenant in Gold Cup at 12s with 365 NRNBAlso backed a few that don’t look so good now (Morning Assembly, Rule The World, Apache Stronghold etc)
Had my first Handicap bet of 2014 for Cheltenham. Nov Hdcp chase on the first day.
ManyRiverstocross 20s with VC NRFB (Now 14s,but 20s is available elsewhere, just not NRFB)February 22, 2014 at 08:02 #468747Added 4 with the NRNB concession:-
REWARDS4RACING
The Romford Pele 16/1
Similarly to the graded novice races you could make a case for plenty but this horse has a little bit of course form and hopefully the stable is finding some form at the right time.
PERTEMPS
Tullyesker Hill 20/1
Major advance last time. Will almost certainly need to win today to get in.
COUNTY
Gilgamboa 10/1
Lovely big chasing type who did me a favour last time. Travels and jumps so you would think this sort of race would suit. As with all these JP handicappers the worry for me is McCoy. Hopefully, the horses might have 7-10lbs in hand to negate his ‘assistance’.
Empire Of Dirt 25/1
This is the horse I most want to see. Has also got entries in both the Coral Cup and Martin Pipe but I think he is crying out for a further drop in trip as he is quite free and has plenty of speed. Better ground should also be a plus.
