I wonder if anyone has knowledge of the rumoured injury of An Siorrac? Cashman’s are sill quoting a ridiculously generous 3-1 for the Christies Foxhunters
I’ve been a keen follower of NH racing all my adult life and no performance since Golden Cygnet has impressed me as much as An Siorrac’s debut over regulation fences at Fairyhouse last February.
I’d earmarked him as the biggest Cheltenham banker for decades even if Edna Bolger went for the Cross Country (he’ll surely win this with Garde Champetre anyway) or even if he went for the less likely RSAJanuary 7, 2010 at 15:41 #268554He is injured and wont be back on the track this year.
Heat in one of his legs or something is the reason…..may not make it back to the track which would be a terrible shame.
They hope to have him back next season but wouldnt count on it
January 7, 2010 at 15:52 #268557That’s the saddest piece of news I’ve heard for a while, he looked a real star of the future and wouldn’t it have been great for racing if he had gone all the way, Edna would never have let Nina Carberry get jocked off and the combination would have really caught the public’s imagination and lit up the NH scene.
Fingers crossed but they rarely come back as good as they were….Denman excepted maybe?
Perhaps Nina will win The Grands National on Garde Champtere? Wouldn’t need Claire Balding to prompt her to smile!!!January 7, 2010 at 18:13 #268603Its a real shame alright but he is only taken out of training this season as a precuation according to the trainer. Cant risk a horse as talented as this.
Trust Enda to get the horse back fit and well as he is a superb Horseman.
I think D Cox owns it….aswell as Nineth Minute etc….Only problem is he is a 7year old. But very lightly raced so hopefully he get back
January 7, 2010 at 18:30 #268611Thanks for the info, I’d agree An Siorrac is in the best possible hands, Enda has never rushed his horses, he always said Spot The Difference was better at 12 than at 8 and that was down to having been given plenty of time as a younger horse.
