i was really impressed with the run of montgermont at newbury today!!and a big compliment to caroline bailey for having the balls to let him run in such a big race without even a prep race after two years off the track.and then even being third vs racefit rivals!so kudos to caroline and staff for this amazing training performance.and not to forget:a very careful and sympathetic ride by andy thornton.

I fell in love with this horse when I saw him run at Bangor a couple of seasons ago so watched his reappearance with interest today..considering he was pretty rusty to start off with he ran a blinder; I was hoping that no one else had noticed!

Not sure that Andy Thornton is the right rider for this horse.

    They have a history.

hi colin!sorry, but i honestly cant see you your point concerning andy.alright,i might be a little biased at that point, but apart from him being my fav jockey,i was really impressed with the way he handled him on saturday.it looked to me for a long time, that the main objective was to just keep the horse together and bringing him home safe and sound(which is always the MAIN thing for me,no matter the punt..),and if he were to be placed or even win,so all the better!kind of a bonus.and the way he worked his way into the race was wonderful, jumping good, bar a few blips.i think,if he stands his racing now,we will hear a lot more from montgermont.

    Hi! Andy.

Thornton doesn’t seem to present the horse at a fence very well.

Montgermont seemed to jump much better for Mark Bradburne.

    Just my opinion, of course.
