How tedious, day after day, they’re none the wiser till after the race if at all and yet again we get Alex Steadman telling us a 25/30 sprint handicap where they go 10/1 the field is just what punters want and love

Its what bookies want to take more money away from punters. Zero interest to me other than the spectacle

It’s just a low stakes race for me. A couple of quid for a bit of fun and it’s a bookies benefit in reality.

My biggest ever bet on The Ayr Gold Cup was eleven pounds and it wasn’t even my money. One of our regular punters tossed a slip with a yankee bet on it onto the counter declaring "There’s a couple of winners on that ticket boys, have a bet on me in the Gold Cup"

When we checked the ticket there was £22 coming back on it and we stuck it on a cuddy called Lochsong.

To make the day even better we had earlier taken a £100 single on Lochsong from one of our bigger punters, who then proceeded to have second thoughts about the draw bias. About 90 minutes later he came back declaring she couldn’t win from stall 28 and asked to change the bet to £50 e/w on Hard To Figure. I can still visualise his face as Lochsong hosed across the line.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
