The Rajhdani Express. Surely he will win tomorrow? He has a bigger race than this in him – the Ryanair, I suspect. Get stuck in!

I’ll be sad if he wins as it will reflect quite negatively on the other horses.

Maybe it does make some sense at the weights though. Radjhani Express is that solid yet unspectacular horse who always runs his high 150s race. Al Ferof could be vulnerable on his comeback, especially with Nicholls giving some rather lukewarm vibes. Wishfull Thinking hardly runs two races alike, but I’d rather be with him knowing how vastly surperior he is to all but the grey when on song.

I love the guy and think he’s underrated as a rider, but isn’t Andy Thornton an odd booking for Somersby? If ever a horse needed a finesse rider who can see a stride and judge pace, it’s him – Thornton’s wild west act might not be ideal here!

Wishfull Thinking for me, sorry Joe. Good luck with the Express! :)

A belated thanks TYF. This horse is driving me crazy. I’m convinced he’s very good. He had a soft unseat last time (when he was keen but the pace was faster). Sam took far too long today to accept his lot and let the horse stride on. He might not have won, but he wouldn’t have burned 25% of his energy fighting.

Off a fast pace on good ground, probably going left-handed, he’ll eventually win something big. Ryanair looks tailor-made, and the only advantage to today’s result is that I’ve managed to top up at 33s.

You wonder what games the trainers are playing at sometimes. Negative comments on Al Ferof and Nicholls gives his other horse in the race Bury Parade as his charity bet.

We later hear that owner John Hales couldn’t be more bullish about Al Ferof’s chances and you wonder what the hell Paul Nicholls is on about.

As usual, the "negative" horse is well backed and scoots in, while the "tip" runs like a burst lavvy and is pulled up.

    Cheers Paul

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Mmm, it’s weird Steve. I always thought Nicholls was more open about his horses than your average trainer, but he has really been putting us all away this season.

I remember him quite openly telling the press that a young

    The Tother One

had ‘stones in hand’ when running in a Newbury handicap hurdle off the mark of 105. His Betfair column used to be an essential read for that kind of thing. Not any more by the look of things.
