Magician – ‘the best horse I’ve ever ridden’

Snow Fairy will be shaking her head and the Aussie will be on here telling us it’s So You Think that was his best mount. What about St Nic or Derby and Arc winner Workforce. I reckon Aiden has been brain washing him……..

St Nicholas Abbey isn’t an outstanding horse, Workforce was highly eratic and difficult to judge. Magician is clearly a very talented animal. Moore isn’t generally one to talk up horses, so unlike a Hughes, one is more likely to take heed of the comment, even if still having reservations until we see the horse produce it again and again.

Hughes is a great judge of a horse, his record speaks for itself. Just because he talks up more horses does not mean one should not take heed.

    Oooops.

I should go to spec savers, just re-read the quote –

"I had him in a lovely rhythm, nice and relaxed," said Moore. "He must be

    one of the best

    horses I’ve ever ridden."

    Sorry Ryan…….

Didn’t he also add something along the lines of ‘in a while’ or ‘for some time’

With his pedigree I always thought Magician would be better over further than a mile.

"It’s been a job well done by the team to achieve this," O’Brien said. "I have to thank Michael (Tabor) whose idea it was that we should move him up in trip to a mile and a half."
What an idea and with a Galileo at that! Surely Joseph would have advised Aidan of this long ago.

Somebody could learn about putting up a first class jockey from Ryan. Declaration of War was politely placed second.Manners has it’s place at the dinner table but riding is not the dinner table. Ask Lester. Too bad.

I thought Joseph gave Declaration Of War every chance. He even covered 30 ft less than the two horses that finished in front of him, just wasn’t good enough on the day.

Have Ryan ride them all next year. Don’t really fret about his politeness. With Ryan up would have won the classic.

I like Aidan, but he’s now treading a very thin line between admirable self-deprecation and turning into Uriah Heep

If Aidan needs a flat jockey next year the fun of following the jockey down to the start with the phone to his ear will begin all over again.
