Not very impressive from the fastest horse Aidan’s ever trained today. The only thing that would stop him winning the Guineas was the mile trip apparently. Well, he mustn’t get 7F either after that.

Never seen a trainer chat so much **** in my life. Magnier has got to be instructing him to come out with these silly remarks constantly because if not, he’s a bit of a clown.

He’s gorgeous. Absolutely as fresh as a daisy. First time out after a setback. I can cut him some slack, nowhere near a miler but the guineas also looks a wash with potential non stayers.
Blackbeard was better than Little Big Bear and Charles Darwin is better than Albert.. :rose:

He’ll be a different horse next time out you would think. I would draw a line through that.

    THE LION IN WINTER

Considered a hotpot going into winter 2024/25. Didn’t win anything last season although it was placed in various Group 1s over a mile. Latest run a disappointing 12/14 in the HK Mile.

I see it’s entered in the Alleged Stakes and the Tattersalls Gold Cup over 10 furlongs.

Will THE LION IN WINTER win a race this season?
    What is its optimum trip?

Running a horse called Albert Einstein again and expecting a different result may be optimistic.

“He’ll be a different horse next time out you would think.”

Will he even run again? The cynic in me says that the marketing hype was in preparation for his imminent retirement; they can blame today’s no-show on the ground.

I thought it looked a poor performance, not a ‘this will tighten him up and blow out the cobwebs for the Guineas’ performance.

He did sort of stay on a little towards the end, but if he was trained by another lower profile trainer and hadn’t been hyped up as the return of Pegasus, then most wouldn’t have give him much hope for top class success and definitely not noted his performance for the future.

Like many of these fast two year old’s breed for speed alot of them don’t train on or regress early. I’m not saying that is the case with Albert but it throws another question mark into the mix.

He is likely to be aimed at the Commonwealth Cup now although his odds only came into 12s from 16s yesterday.

The more I know the less I understand.

    Listen.

Dis is down to me running him on bad ground and only a quarter fit. De stable cat and Delaney’s Donkey said “Listen he won’t go on a bog” I didn’t listen. I have apologised to De Lads. We will tink about what to do next. But listen dis boy is the fastest I have ever trained. Will be a great stallion.

I wish a racing journalist would laugh the next time O’Brien rolls out the “fastest horse we have ever had” routine, or remind him of all the other times he had said it, going right back to 2001 and his ridiculous claim that Galileo “could win a July Cup”.

Of course, it will never happen. They all know what side their bread is buttered.

“Aidan said he doesn’t like to go slow 😂 well he didn’t go fast.”

That amused me too vf. If only the horse were slower so that he could have won

I find the nonsense spouted by O’Brien far more irritating than anything Nicky Henderson says.

The difference is as pointed out above Ballydoyle have a commercial reason to hype a horse , Henderson does not . Bar advertising his stable that is .

That’s what makes it so irritating HCMW. O’Brien is clearly a master trainer, and I’m sure he does have a very good idea of which of his horses are truly exceptional, but they can’t all be.

I am not convinced the hyperbole enhances the stallion prospects of his charges either – does anyone really take these comments seriously now?
