He is as regular as clockwork with these type comments year on year out to the point where everyone should just roll their eyes because its like the boy who cried wolf, the comments don’t mean anything because very few of them live up to the hyperbole he saddles them with.

I’m sure breeders no longer listen to his rubbish. End of the day, it’s the horse’s record on the course that matters. Henry Cecil wasn’t known for bigging up his horses. His comments about Frankel made us all sit up but if the horse hadn’t backed them up, we would have dismissed him as a deluded fool. Aiden does it every year…

Henry didn’t exactly go waxing lyrical about Frankel at the start or even when he started proving he was the real deal (I think the most he said at the end was that “he had never seen a better horse”) but his responses were just enough out of the ordinary from him that you knew there was something rather different about Frankel.

With Aidan you could argue that you might probably take more notice of one of his horses if he didn’t come out with his usual spiel bigging them up. He has led many of us down more than a few garden path’s over the years thats for sure.

    The show goes on….

The ante-post betting for the first Classic of the year was thrown into turmoil when it emerged that the two colts had been removed in error, and that O’Brien was trying to get them reinstated.

That outcome seems unlikely, but he confirmed that the option to supplement them at a cost of £30,000 each would be exercised if need be, adding that it remains the plan to aim Albert Einstein at the Newmarket race despite his Curragh defeat at the weekend.

“I don’t think the BHA will allow them back in, so we’ll supplement them come the time if that’s what the lads decide to do,” he said.

“What has happened won’t affect what we’ll be doing. They will stay on their programmes. At the moment, it looks like we’re going to train Albert for the Guineas, and that has also been the plan for Gstaad. I’d imagine the lads will supplement them if we decide that’s the thing to do.”

The Lads might have to pay £60,000 out of their billions.

I might play the world’s smallest violin in sympathy for them later, if I can spare a minute.

Has Aidan got a miler in the yard… looks a team of Sprinters and middle distance horses
Gstaad could be the one. The Coventry tends to throw up milers but he looked sharp and speedy to me

O’Brien told the Racing Post: “There was a blip on the computer. Something happened, the computer went bananas and took out a couple of horses that weren’t meant to be taken out. We are hoping to get them back in and could do with a bit of common sense being applied.

“The people here in the office were trying to take the horses out of the Dante, but the Guineas flashed up instead and that button was pressed. They were pressing for the Dante, but as they were pressing the Guineas flashed up. They weren’t meant to be taken out of the Guineas and we are working on getting them back in.”

The ‘story’ is that they were trying to scratch the two horses from the Dante. But the initial entry stage for the Dante was today, with entries closing at midday.

So prior to midday, there was no entry to scratch, If they wanted to remove those names from the Dante, they needed to just cancel the entries, which could be done at any time up to midday.

On the Racing Admin system, cancel and scratch are two different functions. If they entered an instruction to scratch the horses with those names, that probably took effect on the 2000 Gns, as that would be the only race they had been entered for which was ‘Open for scratching’.

So not ‘the computer went bananas’, more a misunderstanding of the system.

“The world is his lobster” , Arthur Daly one of the greats of British Industry .
How did the computer flash up Guineas instead of Dante , there would have been a confirm button , are you sure kind of thing , most systems do when cancelling something important .

Couple of ex Ballydoyle horses go round in The Chairmans at Randwick tomorrow , Changingoftheguard and Star of India .
Both gone ok in their time in Oz, Star of India had the better results overall.
Its the second horse called Changingoftheguard from Ballydoyle to end up in OZ , the first one ran 2nd in the Ebor , had one run at Caulfield in 2009 but is now listed as deceased .
