I could not believe the placepot dividend for Thursday’s evening meeting at Wolves.
FIVE winning favourites (2 odds on) and the 13/8 fav not placed in the last and won by a 11/2 shot.
It paid…..£409.80p!!!!!!!
Placepot: £409.80 Pool:£76,547.97 136.35 winning tickets
Surely this is a freak return for such a "likely" outcome?
I saw the placepot at a small meeting (Bangor this week?) pay about £6.00 with 5 winning favs and one 2nd fav all placed.

5318.11 of the 5912.03 units going into the final leg were dependent on the two at the head of the market – it’s about as ‘all or nothing’ as placepots get.
March 6, 2009 at 07:02 #213769It paid that much because it was a bit tricky unearthing the fact that the likes of 11/2 shot Uncle Bertie might be worth including
before
the pool closed.
Much easier three hours later, when they were loading up, and someone was wiping the right hand side of the place screen on his stablemate that had beaten him ten lengths LTO, smelly’s mount was any price you like and Hatta’s Diamond clearly wan’t going to be troubling the judge.
March 6, 2009 at 16:12 #213836A quite remarkable dividend!!
Even the Quadpot paid over £80.
March 6, 2009 at 17:51 #213881By comparison I thought Wincanton’s £162.50 quite frugral yesterday.
It had two odds-on shots out of the frame (one admittedly in a match race) and 5/4 fav and and 9/4 fav not completing.
March 6, 2009 at 20:50 #213920If ever there was a pointer to opposing the favourites in at least one leg then this was it.
We have a couple of work days out at Hamilton Park every year, and it amuses me when I see my colleagues marking up a six favourites ticket for the Placepot! It must be a psychological thing.
