A Well Rounded Botty

This might fly in the face of purists, but it’s a story worth the telling.
Contrary to popular belief, I have made profits at various forms of betting including roulette, Betfairs XGames, horses, dogs, footy and baseball….. but was it ever worth it????….. I think not. Because I’m in my dotage, I spent far too long sat at the P/C trying to eke out profits, OK, I eked ’em out alright, but I found myself earning far lower than the minumum wage, as a matter of fact, there were days when I played roulette for 6 hours and made £5 profit…. it got to be much the same with the horses/dogs etc.
I wasn’t going to continue like that, my back was aching and my bum was numb, I had to get away from the P/C….. so I ended up trying a variation of ‘bots. I found a couple to suit me (that means a ‘bot that I can understand without the requirements of a diploma in maths), all I needed was time to try different ideas out. I struggled with various ideas, but I really got engrossed in the thought that I might be able to set the ‘bot in the morning and not bother with it again until the end of afternoon/evening racing…. I pigging loved it….. if only I could get it to make a profit. Then, about 9 months ago, I did, I was making slow profits on a daily basis…. that was when the first spanner got thrown into the works. The ‘bot that I was using couldn’t cope with a change in the Betfair API that came in November, so I had to look for another ‘bot to do the job…. and I found one (there are quite a few good ones out there). I now have it programmed as I want it and I am making 20pts a day on average…. I’m wetting my Tena Pads.
I am of the opinion that ‘bot betting has not been looked at in any depth, but should at least be considered. For lazy gits like me, it’s a godsend…. I no longer get "brown stuff" moments because of losing runs because I don’t see them, I don’t give a damn if I have a losing run of 9 or 10 because I’m not involved personally….. I put my criteria in, which includes that days Stop Loss and then just click "Go"…. so far I have nipped back on at about 10pm (after the evening dogs) and just look to see how much I’ve won or lost, I already know that I can’t lose more than my stop loss…. it’s great.
At this present moment I have been doubling my bank every 7 days… yes, I know that I’m gonna get a good kick in the plums soon, but I cannot lose more than my stop loss (my daily bank) and I’ve gained that bank 5 times over, so a couple of crap days aint gonna hurt.
I’m not even daring to say that this run of good fortune will continue, but I’m chuffed to bits that I don’t get involved anymore…. 5 minutes to set the ‘bot up and then forget for the day…. what I wanna know is…. how many others are in love with their botty’s….

It would be nice if they got the "bot" you are referring to up-and-running again; really is quite disgraceful the length of time it is taking.

I will certainly be looking to utilize "bots" more in the next few years as – like you – I really want to be away from the PC more.

Are you using your system on "dogs" only?

Lay or backing?

Understand if you do not want to tell all as you have put in all the hard work refining your set-up.

I can link "Excel" to "Gruss" but, really do not have the knowledge quite frankly.

Morning all….. my botty is set up and ready to start betting, but I’ll be running around doing other things…. and that’s a tremendous feeling, it’s a feeling of freedom.
Does it work????…. well guys, I aint about to make myself look like a plonker, but I personally cannot find many faults in it just yet. I’m not trying to convert anyone on here, I was really only dipping my toe in the water to find out if there were many on the forum that were inclined towards playing with their own botty’s. I’m a crinkley that needs his space these days and I wanna spend time with my kids who live 70 miles away, I can’t do this when tied to the P/C, so ‘bot betting is a breath of fresh air, it won’t suit everyone, but I love it…. I wanna know if I’m in the minority.
Matron…. yes, that particular ‘bot is a disgrace and I don’t know of any other that is having the same problem, my guess is that they lost their original programmer and are having to start from scratch…. it’s approaching 4 months now and I suspect that it’ll take another couple to complete beta testing…. time is money, so I’ve moved on to another ‘bot.
I have no problem with sharing ideas, I never have, it’s just that I get wazzed when it becomes a one way street, everybody takes but they’re slow in giving. They are under the illusion that good fortune lasts forever, but that’s immature, there are always going to be waves of fortune alternating from good to bad, each person needs to know when to change direction and it requires several punters to share their ideas and then the good ones can be used as stepping stones to avoid drowning.
I run two instances because I don’t know which is the better, the problem is that they are both excellent at this precise moment…. yes, I know it can change at any time, but as long as I’m winning I’m happy…. and I couldn’t do it without the use of the ‘bot. So guys, any botters out there….

I think you are right.

I really enjoyed testing ideas with the said "bot" so will be glad when it is back.

I did run it for a while – in fact running two instances – one was running "back" and the other "lay" – did quite well.

Once it is back maybe we can pitch some ideas around?

Enjoy my day???… I always do these days, life has become a pleasure instead of mundane. Using the old ‘bot, I tried every which way to find something that stayed within the rigid confines that my criteria entailed and I had some good results, but when the thing turned, it really bit my bum…. at that time I was into laying and I only ever layed the fav, but even though the prices were short, the value was rubbish and I was only crawling forward. There are those that say that any profit, no matter how small, is to be revered, I can’t be having anymore of that hooey, I’m just not willing to while away the days to make 10pts a month, so I let it all hang out and did what any inmate of Ward 7 (for the mentally unbalanced) would do…. I played using "recovery" staking. I must have been crackers, I got creamed, I knew that it was going to happen, but I needed to prove a point to myself to see how long I could survive before the onslaught, but it also gave me history to go back on that enabled me to tweak the settings. It was then that I changed tack and applied the same criteria that I used for laying and moved to BACKING instead…. that made the difference…. and now it’s really zipping along. But then came that dreaded day in November when that ‘bot no longer worked, all my past records were useless, I waited for awhile in the hope that it wouldn’t take long, but as you already know, by the time it’s fixed, we would have lost about 6 months. I got hold of another ‘bot where I could program in the same settings, it costs me £12.50 a month for TWO instances, that’ll do me, I’m not greedy. I have been running on these settings (on this new ‘bot) for just over a week and I haven’t had a losing sequence yet, so all appears to be working well for the time being.
There are problems that crop up from time to time, they’re unavoidable, if you relying on a ‘bot to place your bets, you have to understand that it is not a manual bet and you can’t control some of the problems that are outside of the ‘bots control…. Betfair might go down, so no bets are going to get placed, but the worst thing is that, when a race is delayed for whatever reason, your bets get placed at the wrong times, or, your following bets are not placed because the ‘bot is still waiting for the previous result to come through, it has a domino effect, but as long as you have your stop losses in place, the damage will never be too bad….. and those sort of delays are not that frequent, but it is worth keeping in mind before you kick the cat.
