Most racing fans will know about the thrill surrounding Grundy vs Bustino & Kauto Star vs Denman duels and how they captured the imagination …
So, what two horses would’ve you loved to have seen go head-to-head in the ultimate fantasy battle? These horses can be from any era. No stupid answers please … such as Dayjur vs Red Rum LMAO
I’ll kick things off … loved to have seen a match with Viking Flagship going against Moscow Flyer. Both of these were tough-as-nails and seemingly unbeatable in a finish when push came to shove

December 4, 2010 at 13:16 #331124Dancing Brave
v
Nashwan
over 1m, 11/4m and a 11/2m just to prove who was the better horse! Reason being Dancing Brave never got near the plaudits Nashwan received for winning much the same races, its only in recent years strangely enough that The Brave gets the recognition he should have had then!

Vs

Big Buck’s may have superior talent, but can you imagine, taking into consideration the way Big Buck’s is ridden, Inglis Drever allowing him past on the run-in?
The Drever’s eyes would have bulged out of their sockets and he would have said "C’mon then, Bucky. Give it your best shot".
He would have worried the big softy out of it.

They never raced outside of their respective countries, so it would have to be a ‘best of two series’…
Bosra Sham vs Zarkava
at Longchamp and Newmarket over ten furlongs.
December 4, 2010 at 17:40 #331152Big Bucks versus Inglis Drever would have been a non contest, as much as I loved Inglis, he wouldn’t have stood a chance
December 4, 2010 at 17:53 #331154Moscow Flyer v Kauto Star over 2m4f at Aintree or Sandown
December 4, 2010 at 18:13 #331158Flat – Dubai Millenium v Montjeu, 10f.
Jumps – Kauto Star v Moscow Flyer in the Melling when they were both (say) 9yo would have been some spectacle.
Edit – Great minds Neil.

Jay Trump vs. Arkle 3 mile steeplechase
December 4, 2010 at 22:38 #331180Jay Trump vs. Arkle 3 mile steeplechase
With all due respect, Miss Woodford; but in the infamous words of your fellow American, John McEnroe – You cannot be serious.
More like a total mis-matched race.
Come on, Jay Trump would have to started racing the day before – and even then he’d be a poor second behind the great one.

December 4, 2010 at 22:43 #3311846m chase on heavy ground at Chepstow – Just So v Cythere v The Risky Viking (the first horse I owned a share in).
December 4, 2010 at 22:50 #331186The obvious one: Arkle v Flyingbolt
Would have loved to see Spotthedifference and Risk Of Thunder taken each other on over the banks at Punchestown.
