Darren: have you had a golf bet this week? I had a nice win on Lisbon tonight, James Reveley one ride in the last was a tip in itself!
Have backed Scott Piercey at 50s and Charlie Wi at 80s, also backed them EW to lead round 1 at 50s and 90s
July 3, 2013 at 20:03 #444750Well Gord keep off the bouncy castle and rodeo after lunch or it might all go belly up!!
Just make sure West Leake Hare has eaten his grub.
The winners are flowing so should be a good day – enjoy!
Gord I hope you and your men took the hint!! He won ears pricked you know – another super ride from Paul.
July 3, 2013 at 21:47 #444756Obviously Jim was quoting the Official handicapping of the horses to suggest
Battle of marengo
had 14lbs in hand then Ginge, just by association with Timeform we are used to Jim quoting their ratings but nonetheless I’m not going to hold that against Jim, he only confirmed to me at least that this ‘Battle of Marengo’ is one over-rated horse but like I keep saying to you…..I knew that anyway.
Yes Gord, you knew BOM was over-rated, just like myself, Timeform and thousands of others.
Value Is EverythingJuly 3, 2013 at 21:49 #444757Aaah Apologies Ginge
Thanks for the apology Gord.

Funnily enough Oasis,
West Leake Hare
was the first horse I looked at,not the finest looking horse he has a fine distinguishing mark just above his near fore leg, looks like a birth mark or Mole but he typifies the type of horse Dandy excels with as he was a respectable sort at Barry hills and his form down there alone suggested these class 4’s around Catterick would be easy picking.Alex has a soft spot for him too and she’s ridden them all in her time. She still rates
Machinist
as the finest. As usual it was an eye-opening day chatting with all concerned but I have to confess I’m still kicking myself for not backing your horse,I backed
Slide show
later on as I was still calling myself ‘Numpty’ and with Paul Quinn on both I wasn’t missing out twice! I hope you cleaned up!
July 4, 2013 at 10:24 #444774an Ice Cream man Shaggin birds in the middle of knowhere and yet Customers still bang on your window wanting a 99 in the middle of Sherwood forest!
That made me laugh and it just goes to show you’re never safe when up to no good, no matter where you are. A mate of mine was knocking off a lass who worked night shift in the local coastguard station which was way off the beaten track and was "on the bones" at 3am only to be interupted by some guy banging on the door wondering what the weather forecast was!
Nabucco is a horse I thought worth following after he beat Willie Haggas’ Guarantee in a Windsor maiden and that one went on to win his next three before a flop in the St Leger. Things didn’t pan out as well for Nabucco but after getting back on track he could be well handicapped now. The Magnet Cup is shown as his next race and he is down to run off 91 which seems fair enough given that Guarantee went on to be rated 105. Nabucco is 16/1 for the Magnet Cup and I’d rather take that than wait for the Cambridgeshire. I notice that Gary Nutting has put him up for the race along with Clon Brulee.
On the Eclipse front there are only 7 runners now and as far as I am concerned Al Kazeem at 15/8 is as certain as someone tapping an ice cream van window looking for a 69
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 4, 2013 at 20:56 #444798Hi Gord – Re WLH his 3 wins have all come at tidy prices (8/1-10/1 early doors) so he’s been profitable to follow shall we say!
He’s been well placed as those 2 Catterick wins have been decent pots for class 4’s.
Aye he’s a wee bit gangly and keen but getting him gelded, stepping back up to 7f and holding onto him have been the making of him. That ability to quicken is standing him in good stead and will hopefully keep him ahead of the handicapper – for now!
The firm ground holds no fears for him so here’s to a dry couple of months.
Not bad for a cheap buy at the sales!
July 6, 2013 at 12:34 #444933Love the breeding of Nabucco. It’s time Cape Verdi threw up a good one. And she’s well weighted – just 3 lbs higher than her original handicap rating.
I also like Forgotten Dreams, as I do any horse that returns a SF of 90, as a 2-year old, and winning easily. Or better still 100, like Head Of Steam, eh, Gord! Ironically, the horse it beat by 6 lengths was called Pulverise.

July 7, 2013 at 16:05 #445049Have watched videos and studied the trends for the John Smiths Cup and the ‘magnets’ all pulled me to 2 horses! Awake My Soul must have an excellent EW chance but he was beaten fair and square by Nabucco from John Gosdens yard and I know you fancy him for the Camridgeshire
16s with Laddies is fair enough as IF he runs he goes off single figure price.
Niceofyoutotellme is the danger IMO
July 8, 2013 at 18:40 #445142Been given a very strong word for Iptisam 850 Ripon, horse has been working all over Mirsaale and is expected to win well, may drift as the yard are already on. First time on racecourse so hopefully won’t be too daunting

I’ll watch with interest Grimes but I do like this
Nabucco
a profile of a Newmarket specialist who will be well versed for a race like the Cambridgeshire, somewhere around a mark of a 100 would be nice.

Very respectable performance from a 4yo maiden Gary,I’m sure there’s a race in him,5/1 suggests he was well fancied to me mate,I’ll keep my eye out for him.
July 9, 2013 at 21:56 #445248Do you think Nabucco will bypass the John Smiths? I’ve taken 16s lol
July 9, 2013 at 22:03 #445249Have looked at tomorrows Bridge card and one jumps out at me for an unusual reason.
Point one, I haven’t heard owt, but in the 420 one of my small trainers that I follow has one running. Marj Fife sends out Just the Tonic who is a CD winner, is drawn ok and will enjoy the fast ground.
My main reason though is that Mes Fife is in very good form for such a small yard, she has had placed and some recent winners do 12s EW for a CD winner looks OK to me
July 9, 2013 at 22:40 #445253A belated Happy Birthday Gord, hope you had a good one.
My birthday present to you is the Arkle winner which I will be putting up tomorrow
