I thought about calling my New thread ‘Its jus Dawned on me’ as I like to keep things original but either way this ones ultimately about the same as every other thread I’ve written and thats making a profit at Horseracing over the period of a year. What is quite apparent from all my previous threads is that I am quite capable of spotting talent very early in a horses career and also accurately suggesting future targets enabling big prices to be taken en-route.What is also blatantly obvious is my ability to P*ss my profit up the wall with bets that are really unnecessary and too risky.I’ve been betting horses seriously for 30 years now and cant remember ever making a loss in a years turnover, this year I played my get out of Jail card and again turned a guaranteed loss into a profit. Anyone who takes their betting seriously has to recognise for all their ability,Luck plays a significant part,I look at Luck as a 50/50 chance,a toss of a coin, sometimes you feel robbed with Bad Luck but you have to appreciate Good luck and over the years its certainly evened itself out with me.Where I stand out is that I am collecting from prices way bigger than SP,that alone creates a cushion and definitely softens the losing streaks. This year I intend to Iron out the losing streaks with ‘A Different Approach’!

Good luck Gord, I always enjoy reading your threads and regard you as a better and more interesting tipster than the more "illustrious" such as Hugh Taylor and Tom Segal. All the best with this new one and hope you can start where you left off!

Good luck with this new thread Gord. It takes "different" strokes to rule the World.

Try to get off to a good start this time!
Don’t be too "loyal", don’t keep following serial losers in the hope they’ll win one… And then there won’t be any need to rely on your last bet for the thread to show a profit! As you say Gord, you won’t always be so lucky.

Cheers boys we all love the ‘rush’ Horseracing gives us like no other addiction can!!
    Darren, I like both

    Mijhaar

    and

    Bonfire

today but just like yesterday I wont be putting anything up with confidence as its like watching a fly run around in circles when you pull a wing off watching horses get unbalanced around that bloody dog track!
I’ll go into my Derby reasonings later and why I still believe in my 33/1 shot

Now then,I see my mate Jim Bolgers quoted as saying

    Dawn Approach

will be his only Derby runner but he’ll see where

    Trading Leather

fits in after he’s assessed his seasonal debut, possibly in the Dante at York.Right, if ‘Trading Leather’ runs in the Dante its because he’s being aimed at the Derby, should he win he’ll be going to Epsom as there is nothing else for him, this fellow is bred to be a Derby horse like ‘Dawn Approach’ was bred to win the 2000gns,simple.What gave the game away for me regarding ‘Trading Leathers’ Derby profile was his victory in the Autumn stakes at Newmarket last October he showed everything I want to see in a Derby horse and that includes courage he was headed by ‘Montiridge’ and looked beat but came back battling and then stayed on really strongly to the line. His breeding tells me exactly what ‘Dawn Approaches’ did and that is this fellow has been bred with a mission in mind and that is to redeem his Sire ‘Teofilo’,this fellow was a Derby horse in the making but sadly never got the chance to prove it.I know if

    Dawn Approach

turns up at Epsom he’s the likely winner as he’ll get the trip stood on his head but his biggest danger is his stable companion and through collateral form of both 1st and 2nd favs ‘Trading Leather’ has solid e/w chances.’Battle of Marengo’ beat ‘Trading Leather’ at Leopardstown by just a length and three quarters,it was the Coolmores horses 3rd run whereas it was The Bolger horses debut,I’ll take the runner-up to ultimately reverse those placings.’Glory awaits’ was beaten 5 lengths by ‘Dawn Approach’ last weekend at Newmarket, the same horse was beaten the same 5 lengths by ‘Trading Leather’ in the Autumn stakes over the same Course.I really do expect ‘Trading Leather’ to turn up at Epsom as his participation has no bearing on ‘Dawn Approach’ being there,Aiden will run 3 so why cant Jim run 2? 55’s on the machine is worth the risk that Jim will do a ‘New Approach’ and run, funny how these creatures of habit think at times!

is the the name of the game and I’ve had me spade out tonight.I’m busy studying for next seasons ‘Hennessey Gold Cup’ and already I have narrowed it down to 2 horses,I could throw in a 3rd but I’m not his biggest fan (Unioniste).I saw a Novice chase around the Hennessey C/D prior to this years Cheltenham festival and that one piece of form is good enough for me.’Unioniste’ actually won the race but dissapointed in the RSA itself and I’m a big fan of RSA/Hennessey connections,I’m also a big fan of Nicky Henderson/RSA/Hennessey connections and that is why I have to respect the ‘Iffy’ jumper

    Hadrians Approach

at 16/1 with Bet365,what lets this fellow down however is his ‘Whitbread’ run,for a potential Gold cup sort it was dissapointing. On the plus side ‘Hadrians’ is still only a 6yo and being in the care of a Master Trainer it wouldn’t surprise me to see him targeted at this prestigious race therefore the 16/1 is generous.Obviously should he actually turn up,he’ll trade at nearer 6/1 than 16/1 and that is where TAPK benefits even if its only for a place.Having profiled ‘Hadrians approach’ to my 10 point system he actually ticks 7 of them,(Bobs worth and Trabolgan) both ticked 8 incidentally, the last horse I got a 10/10 for in the Hennessey was ‘Denman’ and I susequently took all the 10/1 I could get.My number 1 selection for this years Hennessey goes to Nigel Twiston-Davies 7yo

    Same Difference

,he ticks 8/10 for me even though he was beaten fair and square by both ‘Unioniste’ and ‘Hadrians approach’ in that Newbury race I’m referring too, what gives this fellow the edge in my opinion is he’s the one who showed the better inprovement since the Newbury race, his excellent effort in the Whitbread alone proves that,he travelled like a dream and was just run out of it up the hill giving plenty weight to a decent staying sort,I dont believe the extra half mile totally suited either. Its been 13 yrs since Nigel won a Hennessey and I believe this fellow will break that run,at 16/1 also he is my No 1 Ante-Post selection for the big race in late November.I shall be backing both to small wagers and build up a bank over the Summer. Thats how TAPK gets the edge………..

I know you are cutting out the silly bets but I’ve been told one is ready to win tomorrow at Thirsk. From a very small yard but one that can lay them out!!

Watch the last ride and I don’t know how they got away with it, the blinkers are back on and the horse is going for a repeat win in a weak looking event, jockey is riding as well as he ever has and he looks a cracking EW bet at 6s but I think he could go very close but please don’t go mad :-)

Secret City from the Robin Bastiman yard in the 615 , have a look and tell me what you think mate

Had a good look at the horse Gary, watched his last run from Catterick a couple of times, the first time I was watching the wrong horse thanks to Simon Holt confusing the colours like I did,(Wrong hat colour in Sporting life).I cant say it was a particularly bad ride from ‘Conor’ but he was quite content to finish 2nd.I notice he won the race you are on about last year off a mark of 64,he’s off 67 tomorrow and has to be in with a shout just on the fact he won the race last year.Good Luck mate!

Gord any thoughts on big handicap sprint at Ascot tomorrow i like
JAMSIE who deserves to win a big handicap so unlucky this horse been. And BRONZE PRINCE who won at track before and go well at a big price.

Also any thoughts on 2 ballydoyle winners i think MAGICIAN is the better horse but he is a 1m2 horse why RULER OF THE WORLD more a leger type.

Well I’m trying to be more disciplined in my approach Ginge and whilst I’m doing that I’m watching horses you know I’ve followed over the Cliff bloody winning,

    Captain Bertie

    ,

    Ektihaam

and the biggest one of the lot the Group 1 winning

    Regal Parade

!! (Never backed any of them)
My brothers only just got back from a weeks holiday on the West Coast of Scotland,he collected his ‘Dawn Approach’ winnings today bets I told him to put on last June at 16/1,he asked if I fancied owt in the Victoria Cup last night and I said ‘Excellent Guest’ was a solid e/w bet at 20/1……….Neither of us backed it and it returns 25/1!………Loyalty,bloody loyalty!

First Ante-Post wager down on this thread goes to Roger Charltons filly

    Mince

winning the Group 1 Golden Jubilee,I expect a bold show next week in the Duke of York, a race in which she trades as the 3/1 fav.Whatever she does there she’ll come on for it and I can see her going for the Big sprint straight after. This filly of Lady Rothschild showed progressive form last year, particularly against older sprinters,I believe she will have stengthened up again over the winter and although she’s only a 113 rated filly now, collateral form through Godolphins ‘Soul’ who ran a blinder against ‘Black Caviar’ makes my filly a serious player for Group 1 honours this year.10/1 is freely available and I’m taking it! I’d rate the nonstayer ‘Moohajim’ as a potential danger in the sprinting division, possibly July cup sort.

    Mince

£100 e/w 10/1 William Hill Golden Jubilee Royal Ascot.

    £200
