Further proof, as if it were needed, that, in France, breakfast really is the least important meal of the day.
I read online: “A typical French breakfast is light, sweet, and fairly simple. It’s usually made up of breakfast cereals, a tartine (slice of bread with topping) and a drink (tea, coffee, orange juice). It’s usually eaten 6am-8am.”
This Gallic national brekkie time can only be to facilitate jump racing at the beautifully-landscaped Paris Jumps venue.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 4, 2023 at 19:17 #1661898I see Adam West is sending Vitani over. Doubt she’ll be good enough, but she should run well.
September 4, 2023 at 19:37 #1661899Brought forward by two hours compared to the same meeting last year, presumably because of the very high temperatures forecast for the afternoon.
Ebullition Mondiale! Quelle horreur pour les chevaux.
September 4, 2023 at 19:55 #1661900According to the Paris-Turf the first race is due at 11:55 local time which is 10:55 UK time. I didn’t know about their intentions to start an hour or two earlier.
September 4, 2023 at 20:31 #1661901Tbh, I think I’ve seen even earlier first-race start times over the years out in the French provinces, but I thought 9.25am was just about worth a thread on a quiet Monday.
Many thanks to Alan for the explanation.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"September 4, 2023 at 20:46 #1661907Late starters. The first race at Mildenhall dogs is at 8.12am tomorrow.
September 4, 2023 at 21:38 #1661911I don’t care what time they start once jumping an advertising hoarding isn’t de rigeur as it was at Craon today. I’m glad they have better taste in La Ville Lumiere than in the provinces.
September 4, 2023 at 22:10 #1661912It’s a decent race in prospect. I want to see how Starlet du Mesnil’s little half sister Sissi gets on, and also La Pinsonniere whose sire won a G1 juvenile hurdle beating Pic d’Orhy and L’Autonomie.

Plus a couple of Gauloises, obviously.

Will help the crossaints go down well.
Not seen since a good debut win on heavy ground at fountainbleu in March and looks to have been aimed at this race, others have gained plenty of experience in that time, but he comes straight here after the one run. Looks the best of these and unexposed with ground to suit.
If not winning, holds each way claims.September 5, 2023 at 00:31 #1661925Sam, you think she’ll be into double digits?
The 2nd and the 3rd one from that race won next time out and then finished top five in a G3 hurdle at Auteuil on their next start.
September 5, 2023 at 07:14 #1661928No books appear open as yet Ruby. I think 7/1 is likely. 11 would be good but to be fair only had the one run and they’ll have to have been working him well out in the provinces to put him right here. The ground is a big plus.
Pains au chocolate is the best french I can manage. Washed down with tea and digestive biscuits.
I’m tempted to do him in a double with Sean Dyche @ 6/4 for the sack race.
I think he’s a certainty by the way. I’m looking to get kaline placed though so I’ll wait for a few favourites to put him ( Mr Dyche)in with.
I’ve got south of three hundred apples to pick this morning (most of them on the ground in this weather I’d fancy) so will miss all the fun.
KALINE each way
Possibly also in an each way double with Jordan gainfords mount in the first at Bangor.September 5, 2023 at 08:39 #1661933What’s the course like to visit ? , I’d be interested to hear what it’s like . It is one I’d like to go to , looks quite historic from pictures and from what I can make out I’d guess the view from stands would be very good .
September 5, 2023 at 12:57 #1661942re jumping advertising hoardings at Craon.
Was this intended by the race organisers or not? In France, sometimes it can be difficult to tell.
September 5, 2023 at 16:21 #1661955How was the going at Auteuil “very soft” after the heatwave they have had on the continent? Has André Tonnelier been let loose?
September 5, 2023 at 18:00 #1661960It’s a climate change anomaly exacerbated by continental cheese omelette meanness in the Ascot area of Britain.
