I’ve noticed todays racing at Ayr is a 7 race card consisting of 4 chases and 3 hurdles which most race goers would think is excellent value, Catterick today is a 6 race card which is 3 chases and 3 hurdles again about what it should be. Of course programming 2 meetings in the north has resulted in very small fields in some of the races which is another question.
What is annoying is that several of the meetings down south consist of a 6 race card, 2 chases, 3 hurdles and a bumper which is hardly value for the admission, surely one of todays meetings like Ayr could have sacrificed a chase for a bumper and the chase run on a 6 race card with a bumper ?
Then again this is the BHA and who cares about the race goer or a balanced race day programme ?
