To be top Division 2 runscorer. Has been a run machine over the last few seasons. Any reason why he shouldn’t make the top 4 this season?
Division 2 was pretty mediocre last season. Warwickshire look a pretty solid bet at 7/4 to go straight back down. They were mediocre for long periods last season and the unbeaten statistic owed a great deal to good fortune.
April 15, 2009 at 00:35 #221872If Ramps does not get injured than the only person I can see scoring more runs than him is Robert Key of Kent.

April 15, 2009 at 12:20 #221923Looks a knocking good bet to me, Stilvi – a batsman of rare class at this level in a division not overburdened with it.

It was with Stan James but since the season has started the market has disappeared. Ramprakash didn’t play in Surreys opening match, I’ve looked on different sites but cant find out as to why he was not playing does anyone know, Clivex maybe?

I don’t know the reason – hopefully those who were dangling the 5/1 carrot (as opposed to 5/2 with Ladbrokes) don’t know either? It would possibly be a little worrying if he misses the next match as well.
April 19, 2009 at 23:18 #222657He was suspended. Think it was a row with an umpire end of last season Nathan
Certainly a good bet, but his form did (by his amazing standards) wobble a bit towards end of last year
And judging by the past week, Surrey need him back badly……
April 24, 2009 at 01:35 #223291Just googled it – two-match ban for swearing at the umpire.
April 24, 2009 at 11:43 #223334The form wobble last season might well have been down to the distractions of organising and attending events connected to his testimonial.
I’d suggest that the negative with the bet is that opponents of Surrey could be using up a lot of the available batting time, as the Surrey bowling attack looks as if might find difficulty taking twenty wickets on a regular basis. I’m fairly sure they don’t have Saqlain Mushtaq this season and he was leading wicket taker last year.
April 24, 2009 at 22:05 #223440I think the loss of form was more down to his anxiety approaching the 100 x100s. Hes note exactly a relaxed sort at the best of times
Maybe true about the bowling AP and the now likely defeat by Derbyshire is not exactly heartwarming. Nel looked decent at the Oval last week and Dernbach a little more firey…but its a concern
July 2, 2009 at 20:28 #237455I know it is still early days but can anyone recommend the most up to date stats site to monitor how this going?
July 2, 2009 at 21:19 #237466Cricinfo
Should be able to find it there.
July 2, 2009 at 23:44 #237483Cricinfo is pretty comprehensive, but I had a quick look earlier and couldn’t find this information – may not have been looking in the right place.
If Cricinfo lets you down, another site that is worth a look is http://www.cricketarchive.com. They update pretty regularly. Look under Seasons – 2009 – Cricket in England – LV County Championship. There should be a table for top batsmen, which you can re-order according to batting average or total runs scored. It doesn’t separate Division Two from One but it should be easy to work out. I checked it earlier and Ramprakash was 3rd in Div Two behind Van Jaarsveld and Dalrymple.
July 17, 2009 at 01:58 #239876August 3, 2009 at 11:42 #242369According to the site put up by Lewey, Ramps has gone to the top of the run scoring chart divison 2 after his century yesterday.

Bit disappointed today – looked an ideal opportunity to get 350 plus!!

The above should read ‘If Ramps does not get injured or called up to the England squad he will piss it.’
