Well, Mike Cattermole on ATR today was very critical and believed the yellow flag should have been waved and the race stopped. Maybe someone should have a word with Mike, some believe you shouldn’t comment if it involves a fatally injured horse as everyone is "doing their best".
March 7, 2011 at 22:56 #343680I absolutely agree.
With Mike Cattermole’s long career as a jockey coupled with his side job as flag waver & followed by time spent as a steward, he’s more than just a man making a comment which we may or may not agree with… he’s the authority.

Mike says what are your particular qualifications or credentials for passing an opinion on here or are you just the font of all knowledge?
March 8, 2011 at 09:04 #343699It’s a safety thing isn’t it? The stewards didn’t seem to be able to decisively and unambiguously stop the race, which is pretty poor.
Then it’s a professionalism thing; you can’t half stop a race then let it finish, because it creates confusion.
Then it’s an image thing, and despite spending a lot of money on creating the right image to attract new customers the people who run the sport seem to regularly promote the wrong image.

We’ll have to disagree about the level of professionalism employed in a fast-changing situation where the stricken horse was still standing and moving on the course for a longer time than expected.
You don’t stop a race unless you absolutely have to, for all the obvious reasons (and forum members would jump up and down if you did, and shout "farce".)
As for "image", do you really think anyone gave two hoots about the 5:45 Wolves in early March except (a) connections of the luckless Sheila’s Bond, and (b) forum members jumping up and down, on this very thread, shouting "farce".
Hardly high profile, is it? Was there a single mention of the incident in the popular dailies? Or on the BBC? Or on Sky? "Image" does not enter into it at all.
No. If anything’s a "farce", it’s the thread.

And who pi**ed on your cornflakes pinza?
What a ridiculous response. No one gave 2 hoots about the 5.45 wolves in early march? It’s because of people with attitudes and views such as yours that punters are leaving horse racing in droves.
What was your last job? PR for colonel Gaddafi maybe? Maybe we could get you a nice job as a steward at say..wolverhampton?
And if a thread such as this is such a ‘farce’, remember you don’t have to participate.March 13, 2011 at 19:22 #344675AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716

[snip further defamatory rudeness]
And if a thread such as this is such a ‘farce’, remember you don’t have to participate.1.
I don’t eat cornflakes, with or without the benefit of the emollient you suggest. Nasty, cardboard rubbish. Wholemeal spelt toast
only
for Pinza!
2.
As you are the instigator of this thread, I respectfully suggest you learn to distinguish your farce from your elbow. If you’ve any evidence of any wider interest beyond those two hoots, please provide it instead of throwing insults around.
This Forum is about allowing people with different opinions to express them. You’d do better to respect that fact, rather than accusing poor Pinza of working for Colonel Gaddafi simply because he has the temerity to disagree with your propensity for propelling your playthings out of your perambulator.
March 14, 2011 at 14:10 #344826AS for propelling playthings out of your perambulator, i suggest you look at the post you submitted prior to this, and that the pot stops calling the kettle black. I do respect peoples opinions, but when they want to start getting snotty about it like your previous post then I don’t value their views at all. That is rude.
And as i suggested, if it’s a thread that’s so ridiculous as you suggest, then you don’t have to read or post in it, as you are still doing may i point out.
But in the bigger picture, I wont get into an argument,as i make a point of not arguing with idiots, they only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Deftly sidestepping your inelegant mudslinging,
demooseus
, I repeat (for the third and therefore last time) my simple question:
What evidence do you have that anyone outside the specialist media gives more than one and a half hoots about what you have called the ‘farce’ of the 5:45 at Wolves?
Note:
evidence
. Facts, examples, not feelings or surmises.
A blissful silence holds the silken air…

It was in the Metro.
