The best jockey riding takes the lead and goes 10 lengths clear. And stays there.
Did the other jockeys think he was a 7lb claimer who was going to come back to them?
July 8, 2023 at 18:52 #1654793I agree entirely CAS.
The likes of Shoemark , Hollie Doyle and Queally gave him far too much leeway.
You could perhaps understand it , if it was an inexperienced jockey , or a horse from an insignificant stable .
However it was Moore , for the Gosden’s , on a Galileo , for majorly significant owners.July 8, 2023 at 20:07 #1654802Ryan Moore is flying again and right now Moore’s judgement of pace is consistently riding other jockeys to sleep in the same way Steve Cauthen did in the 1980s.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 8, 2023 at 21:00 #1654811True judgement of pace where you ride to a strong overall pace in which you mount sees the trip out is very much a lost art amongst many of today’s jockeys, who think pace judgement is simply riding a race where you go off quick, slow it down to bunch the whole field up and then sprint for home hoping you catch the rest napping long enough not to get caught.
July 8, 2023 at 21:23 #1654816Coggy, it almost reminded me of the 2020 Derby. I can just imagine what was going through the minds of the other jockeys: “Let’s give the well bred Galileo colt, owned by Coolmore and trained by a big name trainer 10 lengths start. Oh wait, it’s not coming back, is it?”
Only in this case it had Ryan Moore on board and not a work rider.
July 9, 2023 at 01:51 #1654836Thanks CAS, I hadn’t seen the race and I smiled the whole way round.
I could never seem to catch Moore right over the past years, he always
seemed to get himself stuck somewhere and when he eventually got out
he came storming home to get beaten by a length or so. I used to avoid
him, he was normally too short for me anyway, but I’ve got to agree he
has been a revalation this year. That clock in his head is spot on. - AuthorPosts
