We have all seen the horses who cost a fortune and don’t make the transition to success on turf. There are others, like Animal Kingdom who win millions in prize money. He will be there at Royal Ascot and it appears that we may also see a 2yo filly who cost a mere £400.
Now, you can’t even order a Playstation 4 with £400, so it seems unlikely that you will buy much horsepower with the same funds, but you can always dream.
Baytown Kestrel made her debut in a Lingfield maiden, taking on a hotpot in the betting in the form of Mick Channon’s Finflash who was 1/4
Seemingly friendless in the market, although the trainer Phil McEntee was on at fancy prices, this 50/1 shot hosed in by 4 1/2 lengths from the jolly. After the race, McEntee revealed that he had worked her with another Newmarket trainer’s horses and that she had gone well. The plan is now to go to The Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. Lofty ambitions indeed but good on them for having a go. Apparently she is for sale before that race and they say they have had a few offers from various places around the world. Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

June 9, 2013 at 21:25 #442309John Henry was sold for $1,100 as a yearling and made over $6.5 million in his career. So it’s not that outlandish of a dream.

I’m a great John Henry fan, but $1100 nearly 40 years ago would be into 5 figures now. Still cheap though!

$1100 in 1976 is $4376 in 2012 dollars. Inflation hasn’t gone up
that
