Really like the chances of Frontiersman running at Doncaster today
He really took my eye when I backed him at Newmarket last September.
By Dubawi out of Ouija Board
he is, of course, a stunning looking
individual. He runs in the 3.55 Doncaster and is up against John Gosden’s Muntahaa ridden by Jim Crowley who
will go off favourite, but he can be a bit of a handful and often races keenly and
If Gosden’s horses are short of a run then Frontiersman could score here.He is on my list of horses to follow this season BUT he will need the ground to dry out which it could do if no rain at Doncaster by 4.00pm this afternoon, fingers crossed..

His win looked impressive at Newmarket but up against what? Chemical charge will be more effective on better ground though and that big string of 2nds is definitly off putting. Muntaha’s Ascot run is the pick of the form. Would be frontiersman at the prices and Muntaha saver for me I think but with the lay offs and who’s improved over the winter I might have the refrain from a bet!
April 2, 2017 at 14:32 #1295042I’ve gone for Tawdeea at 5/1
Some of the Gosden horses appear to be not fully wound up, Chemical Charge has seconditis, Frontiersman might not like the ground
My runner likes the ground, has won a handicap off 102 and should be stepping up to listed class at least this seaon and the yard is sending out winners including the Lincoln yesterday

Thanks Theo I hope you’re right about the ground I couldn’t remember if he had high knee action but knew all his wins had been on Good to Firm, but a good horse should be able to win on any ground and I do believe he is a good horse.Prepared to take on Muntahaa after seeing Gosden’s horses yesterday seeming to need their run and at skinny odds, Chemical Charge poses a danger but as you say a string of 2nd’s leaves you wondering but he could be outclassed today.
Ouija Board is my one of my favourite mares and seeing Frontiersman in the flesh last year at Newmarket he immediately went into the notebook, not sure if what he beat that day was anything special but the way he won his race striding away on the uphill finish he did all he could do.
Been feeling like I’ve been let loose these last couple of days with the start of the flat season and I know I should really wait to see how horses have trained on, but prepared to take the chance today with this boy.
Hope he runs a good race.Good luck if you do have a bet and hope he comes home but it will be an interesting race to watch with Mutahaa being touted up for the St.Leger we’ll see how they have both wintered. Wish I was there.
I’ve only put a small win bet on Frontiersman and a reverse forecase with Mutahaa just in case
All good wishes for the flat season ahead

Good luck SlowlyAway
It’s definitely worth taking on the Gosden horse at the price and you have The Lincoln winning team on your side.
The ground is now being declared as Good so I feel a lot more confident for my selection.
Looking forward to this one.

It’s turning into a very interesting race
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 2, 2017 at 16:02 #1295052I know nothing about flat racing but in my view Frontiersmen received a bloody awful ride.
April 2, 2017 at 16:19 #1295055Buick and Crowley should know better! It was a shocker Phil especially Crowley on Muntaha who seemed to be travelling well.
Did they think it was only out of them two? Went for home a long way outApril 2, 2017 at 16:42 #1295059Totally agree Phil and Theo they were sitting ducks for the winner. I thought Muntahaa was going take it up and get the better of Frontiersman but they both just ran out of petrol I think both jockeys thought they were fighting it out for the July Cup.
Think I will draw a line under this race but take nothing away from the winner Chemical Charge who has overcome his seconditis and proved his fitness.
Will be interesting to see how they all turn out next time out. Did notice the ground kicking up quite a lot so will wait for better ground for Frontiersman and hope to see him at Newmarket again.
