Love a good handicap like this! What does everyone have for it?
At the moment I’ve backed GK Chesterton (win only), feel he is a horse with a bit of class and was really taken by his Epsom success, things didn’t go his way at Goodwood (maybe didn’t like the track but I feel he also did too much work early on and went too wide), this horse is still on a manageable mark and at 30s on the exchange I’ve had to back it.August 23, 2017 at 22:48 #1315157Mythical Madness and Big Baz appeal too at the prices, but will wait til tomorrow for hopefully bigger odds on the exchange
August 23, 2017 at 22:50 #1315158I think 25/1 for bravery is a good bet will have a bit e/w
Will also have an e/w on laidback romeo
Although as a side note its only a matter of time before chelsea lad wins one of these but too short for me in said field
August 23, 2017 at 22:57 #1315163No idea why I said Wednesday! obviously meant Thursday!
Nice shout with Bravery, could have been running his mark down via the wrong trip recently, Laidback Romoe also a progressive sort but his recent 2nd somewhat dents confidence.
August 24, 2017 at 00:44 #1315175Race of the day for me, and I think El Hayem looks a big price at around 10’s. I bet Gm Hopkins when El Hayem beat him last time, and that was a strong run from GM. Think it took a good one to hold him off that day, and hit with only a 4lb rise, I’d be surprised if that stops him featuring. I’m hoping that the 6 places makes this a bet to nothing.
Mythical Madness looks huge at 33’s, and I’ve went for him 33’s win, and 25’s ew. He really caught my eye last time, and I think his price is all wrong.
I’ve bet Bravery for The Cambridgeshire, as he looked great last time, and is already below the mark that seen him land this years Lincoln. I’m hoping that Newmarket is the plan, but I’ve bet him here to cover my Ante-Post stake, should things go well today. No surprise if things do go well, and he looks a big threat around 20’s.
Oh This Is Us, and Ronald R could also be bet easily as well. Very nice race this one, and hopefully one or 2 of us can get a return.
August 24, 2017 at 00:59 #1315176I’m going to forgive Ronald R his last bad run at Newmarket, in Listed company, and make him my banker at York tomorrow.
Since the sad passing of Franklin D I have been following the Gredleys new recruit with some success.
Being by Nathaniel there should be no fears that he won’t go on the ground and the booking of Ryan Moore looks appealing…JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 24, 2017 at 01:03 #1315177Nice shout at the prices with Oh This Is Us
Ronald R agreed has a good shout but too short for me, another I like but is too short is One More Word
August 24, 2017 at 02:39 #1315180Am on Chelsea Lad at 7/1 and Flaming Spear at 11/1. Both to win.
Think Chelsea Lad is very classy on his day and has been a bit unlucky on occasions. He appeared to go lane on one occasion he went off very short in one of the big handicaps this year but I really like the horse.
Flaming Spear ran a good race on his reappearance after a layoff and I think he has a nice weight for a horse withnhis ability. At his best, he would beat these I think so I’m just hoping that he is fully fit here.
August 24, 2017 at 06:56 #1315186Bet El Hayem at 8’s a couple of days ago NRNB when it looked like Fast ground.
Once the rain came went for the other one i have been following Flaming Spear @ 14’s. Been looking forward to him trying a Mile this year. He was absolutely cruising LTO and just stopped dead, hopefully like MOM said, he maybe needed a run
August 24, 2017 at 07:04 #1315187Firmament won this race last year off the back of a victory at Chelmsford. I’m hoping Qassem can do the same here after a commanding victory running with top weight. I think a bit of cut in the ground will be up his street over this distance.
August 24, 2017 at 11:32 #1315222I am on three in this….
Main bet is EL VIP at 12/1 . This looks a typical Luca improver and was badly drawn at Ascot.
Two savers are Baraweez at 28/1 even though it has ran badly here before looks well weighted to run abig race after the Galway run last time.
And finally Flaming Spear at 12/1 which is going to win a decent handicap one day and today could be the day. There are plenty in this that have chances and I could probably back six and still not get one placed however skybet are going six places each way!!
August 24, 2017 at 11:34 #1315224I think you are right about Mythical Madness price Bobby and 33/1 is tempting but so far I have resisted as I will end up backing half the field!!
August 24, 2017 at 11:45 #1315231Had to have a go at that sort of price Raymo, and there’s 6 places on offer as well, definitely worth a go, and he could be a dark horse for The Cambridgeshire as well.
August 24, 2017 at 11:51 #1315234Like I said Bobby I could easily back six in this and end up with nothing placed. I am on three but like MM and Big Baz is a massive price at 66/1 Qaseem GK Chesterton I backed One Word More at Goodwood and it came from miles back and looked a little unlucky.
See I could have backed loads!!August 24, 2017 at 11:56 #1315237Oh me too Raymo, it’s hard to draw the line, but just got to be strict
August 24, 2017 at 12:57 #1315249Ofc it’s not a problem cyclic you’ve saved my face 😃
August 24, 2017 at 14:11 #1315266I’m going to forgive Ronald R his last bad run at Newmarket, in Listed company, and make him my banker at York tomorrow.
Since the sad passing of Franklin D I have been following the Gredleys new recruit with some success.
Being by Nathaniel there should be no fears that he won’t go on the ground and the booking of Ryan Moore looks appealing…JacI’m on Ronald R too. I don’t think he’ll mind the ground (Nathaniel didn’t) and I always forgive a horse one run. I saw him win at Newmarket and was thoroughly impressed with everything about him. I’ve also backed Chelsea Lad in hope of winning the money I lost on him at Newbury back. He’s a horse with potential and I believe he’s destined to win a race like this before too long.
I was tempted by Firmament and Oh This Is Us but they’re probably exposed enough by now and I’ll just have to take it on the chin if either wins (although I embarrassingly put them up in the York competition to try and have some saving grace if either claims it).
