Sandymount Duke reported out (racingtv.com), which should mean Bless The Wings is in.
Joe Farrell next in the queue!
April 2, 2019 at 16:00 #1415585Joe Farrell and The Young Master would both be of interest if they’re able to squeeze in.
I’m likely going to stick with what I have plus either of those two should things conspire for them. It just hasn’t been my year.
Ultragold
Walk In The Mill
Vieux Lion Rouge
Singlefarmpayment
Joe Farrell
The Young Master
April 2, 2019 at 17:19 #1415590I was very surprised to see Warriors Tale still in the line up. I really wanted him to run in The Topham, but if he does run here I will still bet him, although it does look too big a trip.
April 2, 2019 at 21:51 #1415614Hi gang,
Just looking back at a re-run of last years GN,it’s wasnt the greatest round of jumping by TIGER ROLL,he clattered a fair few fences but I suppose with being a small horse that was always going to happen,he’ll need to take a bit more care this year
April 2, 2019 at 23:17 #1415620Not the race I watched, Bobbyjo.
Tiger Roll isn’t the most flamboyant jumper. He’s no Rock The Kasbah. But if looking at what the horse actually did: even when Russell got a bit animated getting in close a few times Tiger Roll actually jumped accurately. Only true mistake I saw was pecking slightly at the first ditch second time around.Value Is EverythingApril 2, 2019 at 23:20 #1415623Thanks for the comments guys
April 3, 2019 at 11:43 #1415891How many is too many to back? Think I have around a dozen on-side haha!
April 3, 2019 at 13:13 #1415901I must confess I’ve felt a little guilty having backed 6!
April 3, 2019 at 14:01 #1415912I think you can bet as many as you like lads, it’s the biggest race of the year. I will stick with four for myself though.
My early shortlist was
Noble Endeavour
Mall Dini
Rathvinden
PolidamI wish I had bet Rathvinden then, but no point crying over it now. At least the other pair are roughly the same price.
I will bet the three of them once final declarations are made, and Polidam for The Topham, as I am as well waiting now.
April 3, 2019 at 20:28 #1415976Thank you VTC for that superb write up, I really enjoyed reading it.
My big hope is Ramses- goes on any ground, is hard fit from a copy book preparation, stays, travels well, jumps adequately, is in form and has improved with each run this season. It’s a bonus the stable are in form.
With normal luck I believe he will go real close…wouldn’t want to hit the front too soon though!
April 3, 2019 at 21:06 #1415983I backed 15 in the race once, JJM; at (if I remember right) a combined price of 11/10.
Although I like to think of it as having the winner Neptune Collonges @ 50/1.
Some were main bets, some half bets (to win half of what I usually do) and some saver bets.
Neptune was the one I’d backed to win the most money and – if I’d only backed one horse – would’ve been the winner. So you could argue I gave a bit back. Although have backed the winner several times before and since as 7th or 10th choice etc.I say, if you think any individual horse is a good price, back it! My advice is back them to win different amounts – the best value (not necessarily the biggest price) being to win most.
However, these days I don’t usually have as many bets until late. Are Bet365 doing their free each way bets again? I don’t get involved with those… But – because of that offer – getting massive value in the place only betfair market. People laying off parts of free bets for no risk profits.
Value Is EverythingApril 4, 2019 at 00:26 #1416012Looking at the Bet365 National specials I see they go 7/4 less than 15 finishers. I think that may be significantly overpriced.
Since the new fences were introduced we might expect an average of around 17 finishers on good to soft ground.
However, with the current sensitivity around persevering when winning chances have gone, I can see a lot more horses than usual pulled up on the second circuit.
I would estimate around 12 finishers to be more likely on Saturday.April 4, 2019 at 00:33 #1416015Thanks Bobby
April 4, 2019 at 10:31 #1416033Pairofbrowneyes the only one not declared.
I’ll be topping up on Jury Duty, and adding Valseur Lido each way.
April 4, 2019 at 12:01 #1416054I’m still stuck with just the 1 Bobby, Jury Duty who I took last month at 33s. I’ve also
topped up this morning with Willie Hills, who are best priced 22s, but boosted the bet
to 24.24/1 so anyone thinking of adding him might want to check to see what Hills will
offer. I’m glad I held off, because Pairofbrowneyes was the one I was most interested
in, but it seems he’s heading to the Irish National instead. I’ll definitely be having
another 1 or 2, but I’ll wait to see what’s on offer on the day. Bit disappointed I’ve
not heard anything from Bet365 or Sky, both of whom had some cracking matched free bets
at Cheltenham. Maybe they might come up with something on the day.April 4, 2019 at 12:22 #1416063Yeah, disappointing with Browneyes Graham, but there was always the chance he would go to Fairyhouse. Majority of mine was NRNB, so no real harm done, other than I just really like the horse, and was looking forward to him here, and had had a pretty decent bet on him.
I’ve decided not to top up on Jury Duty, no point at half the odds, I’ll stick with the 40’s, and that’ll do me. I’ll pocket most of my Browneyes cash, and put some of it on Valseur Lido each way. For all I got away with it with Browneyes, I didn’t get away with it with Missed Approach, who wasn’t NRNB, so makes sense to hold back a bit now.
Still think Rathvinden will be bang there, but I’ll stick with these for now, and maybe add Rath into my lines on the day…..
Tiger Roll 12’s to 20’s (perms)
Jury Duty 40’s NRNB
Blow By Blow 66’s EW NRNB
Blow By Blow 360’s
Valseur Lido (ew max places, not bet yet)
Mall Dini 33’s
General Principle 33’s EW NRNBApril 4, 2019 at 12:43 #1416068Ruby on Rathvinden, lovely stuff.
