My type of race this, and it’s usually a decent field declared for it.

My attention is immediately drawn to last year’s winner, Go Conquer. He blew me away in this last year, and I thought bigger prizes were on the menu, but that didn’t quite work out.
He seemed to be entered for everything bar The Kentucky Derby last season, but he was rarely seen. When he did show, he was disappointing. Still, with his mark slipping, I’m keen to keep him on side, and the switch to NTD is interesting.
I’ll wait and see if he’s declared, but I will play one early, and it’s Geordie Des Champs. Yard slowly on the comeback trail, with Relentless Dreamer winning on Saturday. This looks perfect for Geordie, and I think his mark is fair, as I feel he has more to offer. I’ll top up if he goes bigger. EDIT topped up 14’s.
Geordie Des Champs 14’s Win
October 29, 2018 at 21:13 #1379040I think this will be Go Conquers target, clearly likes Ascot and only a few pounds higher. Agree that anything Curtis sends out at the moment deserves a close look, hopefully she’s on the comeback.
October 31, 2018 at 11:18 #1379119I went for Go Conquer myself here. I missed the 8-1, but did get 7-1, I was still happy with that price.
I see Traffic Fluide as a big danger.
October 31, 2018 at 18:56 #1379155Houblon Des Obeaux naturally gets a sentimental punt, though to be fair he has a good record first time out, is very well handicapped and has won the race before. Plenty of ticks for me to convince myself I’m not wasting my money!
Traffic Fluide should go well if his Chepstow run is anything to go by and I’d have to consider Coneygree in the unlikely event they send him here.
October 31, 2018 at 20:10 #1379158Think HBO needs the heavens to open come Sat if he has any chance.
My only reservation with GC is whether there is another front runner in the race, eg Thomas Patrick, and May take each other on. Watching GC’s last couple of runs he’s gone off too hard and found wanting at the end-I tho k he’s the type of horse who needs to get into a good rhythm with his jumping and it’s up to STD to ensure that.
Adrien Du Pont is a big danger of settling better also-a bigger field could play to his strengths.
November 2, 2018 at 17:42 #1379347Too Many Diamonds for the win at 10-1
November 2, 2018 at 17:46 #1379348Interesting turn out here. Not as many runners as I first thought there was going to be but having backed him last time out I have to stick with KINGS LAD at 13/2 with Dickie on board.
The other one I have had a small interest in is SOLIGHOSTER at 20/1 who has threatened a couple of times last season to run a good un and the trainers current form is hot!!Ten of his last twenty odd have either won or been placed recently!!
November 3, 2018 at 04:10 #1379459Hills are going 5 places for this for some bizarre reason.
Go Conquer at 7/2 is a bet to nothing each way. Surely he finishes top 5 here? Surely?
Go Conquer @ 7/2 e/w (5 places)
November 3, 2018 at 09:33 #1379479I don’t think the dog leg and the jostling at Uttoxeter suited Geordie des Champs. Think this track will allow him to get into a rhythm much better. Haven’t bet anything but he is my idea of the winner.
November 3, 2018 at 10:48 #1379504I think Go Conquer will either lead them a merry dance and hack up like last year or he’ll be taken on and the race will be set up for Too Many Diamonds. Both stables are in good form.
Go Conquer 10/3
Too Many Diamonds 10/1November 3, 2018 at 11:53 #1379537NTD only had 2 winners from last 30, he was in much better form early October seemingly…there’s a risk GC might just need this, but think he’s the best horse in the race anyway.
November 3, 2018 at 13:08 #1379578Will have a stab at Go Conquer each way also.
November 3, 2018 at 14:08 #1379585Look at you VTC with your 14-1!! There was me feeling a bit smug with 13-2, now he’s generally 10/3.
Well done mate, that’s a cracking price! Just two bets for me today, Geordie & Divin Bere.
November 3, 2018 at 15:42 #1379591Traffic Fluide silences any doubters over his stamina. Grand National beckons?
November 3, 2018 at 15:47 #1379592Well done anyone who backed him. He’s a good horse isn’t he Traffic.
I backed a Barry Geraghty ridden horse for the first time, in absolutely ages today. I very quickly remembered why after four fences that it had been so long. I know it’s the horse jumping badly not Barry, but that’s just what happens when my cash is on him. Every single time. One day I might learn.
November 3, 2018 at 15:48 #1379593He’s a very decent animal Nausered, and he’s getting increasingly impressive in the finish.
Less said about Geordie the better.
November 3, 2018 at 18:30 #1379607Does anyone think that ART MAURESQUE dogged it ?
And I am not talking out of my pocket here but to me it had the race won and threw it away.
