PP have given me a free bet so put it on Old Guard at 20s in hopes that Bryony Frost can continue her good run and her claim will be useful in the ground.

She was excellent on black corton again, really put it up to ballyoptic and west approach (both overrated horses :yahoo: )

As most of you will know both my two have turned up which is a bonus but maybe I am speaking too soon cos they might be withdrawn yet!!

I do think WILLIAM H BONNEY will love the ground after watching the racing today and at 16/1 has to be worth a few quid each way five places!!

Completely agree with your earlier post Steve.

Is there anything more tedious than someone trying to preach on the perils of betting Antepost. WE KNOW THE RISKS.

Unfortunately, this isn’t about the ins and outs of betting Antepost, the discussion is about connections deliberately putting punters away.

If you even try to defend this, you are either a troll, an idiot, or are just arguing for the sake of it.

Settled on Old Guard myself. Looks well weighted if rediscovering some of the smart Cheltenham form of old.

I have a novice question for you- this horse and Nietzsche are listed at 10st 0lb which is the lowest weight to be carried according to the race conditions. Both have 5lb claimers up. Do they get to use the claim? Ie will they carry 9st 9lb or 10st?

I don’t quite see why Elgin is more than double the price of Mohaayed at 16/1. He was 6 lengths ahead giving him 7lbs on soft at Haydock earlier this year in the Grade 2 Neon Wolf won. Gives him 8lbs for this but has runs under his belt (albeit may be a bit soon since his last run). I’ll be on the lookout for a match bet.
I might as well have a piece of him at 16’s each way too.

Anyone know why Tom Scu rides Misterton and not Noel Fehily?

Edit: I assume its the weight. I see he hasnt done lower than 10st 10 since the beginning of this month.

A big bet for me on Mohaayed at 8-1 and slightly smaller bets on The New One + William H Bonney both at 16-1

Have shifted some of my london prize bet now as a precaution and added elgin in

    London prize 20/1 e/w
    Flying tiger 16/1 e/w
    Elgin 16/1 e/w

London prize just turning up has gave me a great position on the race, has been pretty lucky considering he done me a turn last saturday

Added Ivanovich Gorbatov 22s EW with Paddys in case he turns up in good order, though Barry isn’t on him, neither are the blinkers and nor is JPs money going by the prices, and he isn’t even mentioned in the trainer quotes for the race.

Tricky handicap because several appear to be high enough in the weights considering the form they bring to the race.

It’s going to be Soft and because he goes well fresh and Henderson has been impressed with him in recent weeks, then I think Jenkins is a likely winner. London Prize is the reverse forecast horse.

That’s going against a strong weight trend but they’re my picks.

Growing market confidence behind The New One, you can’t see 20/1 for the hills any more and he’s as low as 10s with Corals. Whether this is because of the stable form and Ginge winning I don’t know. It seems a tall order to concede so much weight to a quality field I’m struggling to believe this is due to punters piling in with Corals as to why they only go 10s.

I think the going change is driving the gamble. He’s 6 from 8 on soft and 2 from 3 on heavy. What seems to be ignored by the plungers is that not a single run of those 11 was in a double figure field. Having said that, he’ll probably go from the front and, as mentioned earlier, won’t go down without a fight. But he’s giving weight to some potentially smart horses here. Still, if he jumps the last in front my heart will probably desert my wallet and I’ll be cheering him on.

That’s a fair assessment and I too can’t quite bring myself to back him. I’ve instead backed 2 each-way here with SkyBet and PaddyPower who are both paying 5 places. They are Tigris River (11/1) and William H Bonney (16/1). The former is Geraghty’s pick and has some really good form on a softer surface. He’s progressive, represents top connections and I was very impressed with his latest victory. The King horse hasn’t been too good on his most recent runs but is in at the bottom of the handicap and did win over this C&D on very bad ground last season. King’s horses are a bit in and out for me but I find it promising they run him here under a promising claimer for his first outing of the year.

Best of luck all, I think this could be a close one.

More than happy to be sitting on Old Guard e/w @ 33s four places but have had to add TNO at 16s as a small saver.

Yep, the ground could more than negate Will H Bonney’s disadvantage in being out of the handicap and I’ve added him and Chesterfield (who is way too big at 28/1).

BTW, Skybet will pay EW first 5 if 10 or more go to post.

I’ve had to back Chesterfield because when I see ‘soft’ and Pivotal’ on the same page I have to click on the bet button; I know it’s the wrong race/track/code etc but it’s a Dr Strangelove sort of thing. Oh, and the O’Brien horse after disregarding the trainer in Melbourne.
