Hi All, long time reader, first time poster.

I see Defi has now been pulled out. Why pull him out right after the final decs have been made? is there some benefit in this to benefit the other JP horses, weight wise?

Just seems to strange to pull him out literally a few hours after the final decs?

    FINAL DECLARATIONS TODAY????
What are you talking about? Is this new that horses for a handicap have to be declared 5 days in advance?
    Never heard such crap…. Sorry

Its almost as if the mass of ante-post money for Delfi offsets any potential winnings for JP on one of his other ones, can’t be easy for the bloke to get much on these days

    Very poor

Its still Old Guard for me

RubyLight is right and I (personally) think the Greatwood was the wrong race for DDS but Frank Berry has undoubtedly put you boys away here. Irresponsible stuff – if still unsure about the target he would have been better off admitting that to SportingLife.

    He maybe new to racing.
Think the guy has just got mixed up between 5 day decs and final decs.
Think you knew that though deep down.

Easy to see why people feel hard done by on this one, a sickening blow to backers of DDS. :negative:

No doubt we will have plenty more to come once the Mullins, Walsh & Ricci mob start talking riddles later on in the season.

Never backed him as i mentioned yesterday this outcome wouldnt surprise me, just didnt think it would be less than 24 hours after making the statement

Every right for backers to be annoyed in this situation rubylight, obv not final decs, but they gave more than enough insight that he WAS running (bar a hiccup)

The fact alone that he was left in yesterday at the 6 day stage would normally have been sign enough. Hobbs cannot be blameless as he’d have to have made the declaration

Does anyone know which of the market leaders might bypass the race?
I think that London Prize, Elgin and The New One might NOT be running, at least this is what the exchanges might indicate.
    Any thoughts or more information?
    Thanks

Yes, my fault, wrong choice of words, obviously meant the declaration this morning!

Statement still stands though, thanks for the warm welcoming…

Look at it from the point of view that if it dosent have a jockey booked theres no decision been made yet, but most of them will be leaning towards not coming than coming otherwise they would have declared the jockey booking

Taking the 4 places e/w just now may prove to be a good idea as this could cut up quite a bit still although DDS and divin bere etc coming out will attract the lesser likely ones to stay in

The 4 places are very tempting right now, but I’d still expect about 14-16 runners. The Greatwood is not a 10-runner race. But guessing the right ones is the problem I’m having now.

In relation to DDS most seem to assume that there is some sort of deception going on after saying he would run but now he won’t. Maybe they had every intention of running until something unforeseen happened?
Owners and trainers owe punters absolutely nothing. If u backed this horse or any horse ante post you were taking a risk that he would get to the race in a fit condition, you can’t take the word of trainers because today a trainer might have a horse fit and ready to run on Saturday and tell people but by the time they return to the horses stable their could be a problem. Or even a change of heart god forbid.

In summary if u back ante post and something doesn’t run, u have no grounds for complaint. It was the wrong race for him either way

Would normally agree with that, but think this is different. Nothing wrong with the horse, so they tell us, they just dont think its the right start for him…..So begs the question, why enter him in the first place and have the owner confirm they are ready to run this weekend less than 24 hours later, pulling him out.

it happens so not really moaning, was more asking the question if this benefits other horses in the race weight wise as i am unsure if it has any potential benefit to other horses?

Like i said i didnt back him and said this might happen

But if the racing manager sais he will run alongside the other 4 and then hes declared youd expect he will run barring a setback, its certainly a little deceptive how they did it, although its guaranteed it wasnt meant to come across like that

The New One runs with Johnson on board, keeping a lot of them in the weights.

We know how ante post works. No need to be smug and patronising.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Hi Tommy, good to see a new face in the forum :good:

It was a bit of a blow seeing Defi Du Seuil being pulled out, but it makes no difference
to the weights carried by others as The New One is carrying top weight. It would only
have made a difference if DDS had been top weight, and then the rest would have moved up
whatever the difference was between him and the 2nd top weight, so no advantage to anyone.
