Shrewd [so I’ve just read] picked up an injury in the Scottish CHH [had a nail go through his hoof] so may be being slightly overlooked because of that disappointing run, so I’m quite hopeful of a good run today.
August 3, 2017 at 16:08 #1312658Moehat and BigG, I’ve went with Project Bluebook 14-1 and Court Minstrel 28-1 at the 6 places with Skybet
August 3, 2017 at 17:20 #1312662Phew, that was a good race although I have to admit that it was only a few strides out that I realised Gerraghty was going to get there. It was really nice to see just how happy Joseph O’Brien was after the race as well, you could tell he was properly chuffed.
Only a 13/2 winner but I’m happy and well done Raymo too.
August 3, 2017 at 19:10 #1312675WD Charles with the winner and bigG and moe for Airlie Beach…I abandoned even looking at her when she wasn’t running so well so good on you for keeping the faith.
In the end I just added Ivan Grozny to replace my Zubayr bet (be mad if I failed to back him and he won without me after losing my AP on him in Northumberland Plate when he was w/d) so no luck for me. Lessons learned from this festival and the antepost comp…I am apparently quite rubbish at AP betting. I’m not good at predicting who will be withdrawn and when I do have an early fancy, I become paranoid that everyone is going to see the light and pile in…in reality Sandymount Duke only went from 14s to 12s; and Devil’s Bride drifted and so did Plinth at one point.
Really need to curb my enthusiasm to jump in early and quell my fear of missing good prices and greed when backing too many in all.
It’s fun to have a couple of weeks dreaming but Gingertipster on the GT vs the World bunfight thread is right…too many non runner AP bets just kills a lot of the benefit.
Onwards and upwards.August 3, 2017 at 19:19 #1312677Cheers greenasgrass, I’m happy with Airlie Beach’s place, she rode a great race.
I’m also happy that I have an account with Skybet, they went 6 places, so Project
Bluebook gets a place too……I hope you were with them too Lemons and Moe
Well done Raymo and Charles, that was a nice winner, and it’s good to see Geraghty
back in the saddle, I’m a big fan of his (but whisper that round here
)August 3, 2017 at 20:53 #1312686I keep meaning to open a skybet account for the 6 places on big races! Might do for the Hennessey. Between everyone TRFers landed a nice haul.
August 3, 2017 at 20:55 #1312687Winner was very much a stats horse;note to self; check the stats for this race next year….
August 3, 2017 at 22:58 #1312701Thanks G and it is nice to see Barry back!!
And well done Charles
August 4, 2017 at 12:35 #1312764Well done Charles and Raymo with the winner.
Well done Moe and Graham with the places, and yet another return in the places for Lemons, well played.
Terrible race for me, with my late selection Ancient Sands, bringing down Ivan Grozny at the first, was a hard one to take, and it’ll be a long time surely before I can get Ivan at a price like that on the day.
Very happy with the runner up Swamp Fox, and chucked a couple of pounds at him for The Ebor.
August 4, 2017 at 12:56 #1312771I think it was Swamp Fox that Andy compared time figures with and said the winner would have the beating of him in this one. Was it my pal Mitchell who brought everyone down at the first?[ Or should I say ex pal?].
August 4, 2017 at 13:38 #1312785If it was him moe, he’s no pal of mine lol
