Good run from Footpad today to get to within a length of Petit Mouchoir.
Had another bet on Zubayr @ 16’s to win this race
January 31, 2017 at 15:23 #1284968Spot the wrong price:
Ballyandy 7/1f
Consul De Thaix 8/1
Sutton Place 8/1February 4, 2017 at 12:20 #1285705He’s now as low as 4’s favourite for this, but having topped up that 25’s with a few more quid on the exchanges, I’ve now completely laid him off for this, for a decent profit on the race.
He’s been re-introduced to The Champion Hurdle by a few firms, and most importantly for me, by Betfair, so should he win here (he’s by no means certain even to travel), then that Champion Hurdle market will give me a serious trade. I’m not confident of him getting declared on Monday, but if he did, it would be a welcome surprise.
February 4, 2017 at 21:12 #1285804I always say whatever JP runs in this back it….Not this year though,I reckon Ballyandy is tailor-made for it,closer inspection sees him getting in with a mere 10-6,thats a flyweight. His form is top class for a Novice and it will need to be to win a Betfair hurdle but this fellow has a touch of the MTOY’s about him and I think he’s a massive player at 9’s on the machine.

Got him at 16s the day the decs came out Gordy. Steal of the century off 136

I dont think he really wants the ground this soft and he probably isn’t a crack 2miler either. He would interest me more if he turned up in something like the coral cup on Spring ground this year. Handicap mark is perfectly feasible so i hope its preserved for a tilt at the festival. I’ve parted with some hard earned on ‘Beltor’@25s win/place. This 1 time Triunph hurdle contender is now 10lb lower than in his pomp. He showed that his mark gives him room for manuevour when hitting the front too soon and chucking his race away at Kempton latest. Soft ground holds no fears.

Which bit of his form is top class? Back in November he emerged as inferior to both Mirsaale and Keep In Line, neither of which are top class and we haven’t seen him since. My Tent Or Yours always looked like a speed horse but Ballyandy has looked the exact opposite.
February 5, 2017 at 08:21 #1285845Whilst I am sweet on CDT, Beltor was the one horse bugging me. Stood to win me £700 in the 32Red Handicap Hurdle and I am still annoyed with that jump at the last. I think he is a big price at 25/1
Spoke to Rob Stephens on Wednesday about Beltor. Thinks he has a great chance of that mark of 135, has really struggled to get the horse back to form since injury in the fighting fifth a season or so back. If hes back to the triumph 6th place form, he thinks he is, then 25’s is definitely generous.
I should of cashed out.

Both Ballyandy and My Tent or Yours started their careers through the National hunt flat races,’Ballyandy’ won the Grade 1 bumper at Cheltenham the same race his nemesis Moon racer won the year earlier, that in itself is top class novice form.Their hurdle clashes since confirm that and ‘Moon Racer’ had been Fav for the ‘Supreme’ most of this season again confirming they are both high class Novices.’MTOY’ was a pretty inexperienced novice hurdler when he contested the ‘Betfair’ hurdle at Newbury and ‘Ballyandy’ is much the same.’MTOY’ had contested 3 weak novice hurdles prior to his ‘Betfair’ victory and had actually got beat at 1/3,that was when I told the world he’d win the ‘Betfair’ and ‘Supreme’hurdles, spotting a horses talents isn’t always about those that win Stilvi and again ‘Ballyandy’ falls into this category. We haven’t seen the best of him yet,his last run against Messire des Obeaux will with my advantage of foresight prove to be yet another top class effort when that horse wins the ‘Neptune’.So to sum up..Both ‘MTOY’ and ‘Ballyandy’ at the same time in their respective careers contested National hunt flat races,a couple of Novice hurdles and dive straight into a ‘Betfair’ hurdle as 6yo’s.What makes Ballyandy look so leniently weighted is the fact that in his total career of 3 Novice hurdles he’s ran against 2 horses highly touted for Cheltenham and gets in on 10-6…Hope this helps Stilvi.

No need to apologise Jaymo if everyone agreed with me all the time Bookmakers would be out of business.
February 5, 2017 at 10:59 #1285882LOL, good reply. I’ll check with you before i make any rash decisions in the future. Beltor @25s for me though. I’ll expect a ‘congratulations’ post on Saturday afternoon
February 5, 2017 at 11:00 #1285883Which part of Ballyandy’s form isn’t very decent, if not top class ? Moon Racer, Messire Des Obeaux, the bumpers…
His full brother Megastar finished second in the Tolworth, fifth in the Neptune
He might not win but 16s for a horse who is 4 from 9 and yet to finish more than four and a half lengths behind the winner in the other five races ?

Not with ‘Beltor’ you wont pal …The only horse I fear in the entries is Footpad he gave me a little fright last Sunday so I hope he doesn’t turn up,everything else in this years ‘Betfair’ that has a chance has to give a stone to my horse and they will struggle.

The Irish handicapper bumped him up 8 to something in the mid 150s. Cant see footpad being a runner after that
February 5, 2017 at 15:36 #1285970The owner said if Footpad is to run in the Champion Hurdle then he won’t be running in any race before
Cue Mullins to run him in this then……..
He’d stand a great chance of winning this or at worst placing by sheer guaranteed they’ll set a fast pace.Blackbeard to conquer the World
