Entries out now…………..
Tends not to be a big betting race for me, but have taken a chance with Thistlecrack at the 12’s. I’ll no doubt go with an outsider in the lead up as well.
November 3, 2016 at 12:51 #1270309A horse with good eyesight if they are running it at that time
November 3, 2016 at 15:11 #1270325I’ve had a small dapple on thistle crack at 12s and have also backed vatour at 7/2.
I just hope Douvan doesn’t go down this route.
November 3, 2016 at 20:49 #1270372Coneygree @ 8/1 is a decent bet
A Gold Cup and course winner who’s almost certain to get his ground.
November 3, 2016 at 23:53 #1270395It could be a case of 12 months too late for me!
I will never forget last years rollercoaster…will he won’t he…not entered…computer glitch…going over to Ireland….going to Kempton….wanted Coneygree to win the King George last time to collect something in the region of 3k (a lot for me) with the antepost I had built up….was a real cruel twist in the end as they had decided it would be Kempton…
As many will know on here…I think I’m Coneygree’s biggest fan…in a strange way I think I’m slightly obsessed with the horse….it’s no word of a lie to say I’ve watched his Gold Cup win well in excess of 100 times….I see all these new kids on the block….the likes of Thistlecrack being favourite for the Gold Cup off the back of one canter round in a novice chase…for me Coneygree’s Gold Cup win was as fine a round of jumping in a tough run staying chase as you are likely to see…
I’ve followed this fella from day one…even got him introduced into the RSA betting for the festival before he’d even jumped a fence!
For me Kempton and the King George is his ideal race…absolutely perfect for the horse…a thorough test of speed stamina and quality jumping….3 attributes he has in abundance…and more often than not the ground there makes it a thorough test.. I sometimes think he doesn’t get the credit he deserves…people mark him down as just an out and out galloper, but I think he’s actually a lot quicker than people give him credit for….
His perfomance in the Feltham a few years back I thought was breathtaking…people say a few of the fancied runners fell but that’s because they couldn’t handle the pace and his accuracy of jumping….to put in that performance when backing up around a month after a comeback from a 670 odd day absence was unbelievable for me…
There’s the nagging doubt….will he come back the same horse from injury? Well he’s come back once from a lot longer off and went on to win a Gold Cup….the noises from all involved have been very positive and he’s still relatively lightly raced….maybe this injury could be a blessing in disguise as that brutal Gold Cup he won could easily have left a mark….I certainly don’t think Djakadam, Road To Riches of Holywell have got over it and they looked three really progressive staying chasers…
I’ve nowhere near as much rolling on this year…which probably makes him a certainty with my luck…..I honestly believe though…if he comes back the same horse at Haydock in a few weeks (ground permitting)…he’ll win at Haydock and then show them who the top staying chaser in the game is at Kempton….a MUST bet for me for this!
November 4, 2016 at 11:50 #1270502Have taken some 50s God’s Own.
November 4, 2016 at 17:06 #1270544Just added Don Poli at 85, based on the theory that they might start making much more use of him in races. I think he might need that (might not, but worth a try)
November 8, 2016 at 00:24 #1271337I’ve had a small dapple on thistle crack at 12s and have also backed vatour at 7/2.
I just hope Douvan doesn’t go down this route.
Don’t want to worry you but, after the sad loss of Vautour, Ricci is now talking about Douvan for the King George
November 8, 2016 at 10:32 #1271358Thats the risk of ANTE POST. Gutted about vautour such a big loss for NHR and he will be missed.
I still can’t believe paddys have douvan at 6s. RR always said douvan is a king George horse and have backed him at 6/1 EW. If this horse runs I don’t think he will be out the Paracel.
If he runs and thistle crack doesn’t turn up I think he wins. Have also gone in again at 16s EW FOR THE GOLD CUP. I think there is a high chance he will go there and they will risk running UDS in the champion chase. 16s ew is for Cc is also worth a punt.
November 11, 2016 at 18:54 #1271973I thought the 9-1 for Valseur Lido was a good price after last weekends run, so he will be the bet for me in this.
November 11, 2016 at 19:04 #1271980Sorry, should also add I have also bet Tea for two at 33-1 each way.
November 15, 2016 at 19:19 #1272818Picked my outsider, and had a few quid on Saphir Du Rheu 50’s each way, and 210’s on Betfair. Should give me a bit of interest should he run a big race at Newbury.

Confidence growing VTC ?
November 15, 2016 at 19:57 #1272830Interesting drift on Douvan at Paddy Power…pushed out to 8’s today just about double everywhere else…what has Paddy found out today?
Will be meaningless anyway because Saturday tea time there will be a real short priced favourite for this!
November 25, 2016 at 18:35 #1274113Had another bet in this, Champagne West 270’s to 300’s, as I get the suspicion a few of the big names might be missing.
A notoriously bad jumper of a fence, coming down on more than one occasion, and also made a horrendous error at Cheltenham last January. He has though, made the switch to Henry De Bromhead’s yard, and he has a fair record of getting horses jumping better. Probably money wasted, but hopefully he can make an encouraging, and error free, start for the yard tomorrow.

I wouldn’t be overly confident Botchy, but I do like those prices, and I’m hoping those odds of 50’s turn out to be an accurate reflection of his chance.[/quote]
Me neither, but must admit to having a few pounds on SDR as well at a crazy price. Not as crazy as yours but still crazy.
November 26, 2016 at 00:29 #1274204Good luck Botchy
