He’s getting on a bit, but I quite like the Venetia Williams trained Summery Justice. Trainer coming back into form, and she’s managed to get him here 5lbs lower than in this last year, when he found only Saturday’s Hennessy runner up, Caroles Destrier, too good. Venetia normally gets one big run a year at the very least from her staying chasers, and at 25’s with Betfair Sportsbook, it’s tempting..
Others who appeal at this stage are Katkeau at 10’s, who did me a favour last season, and didn’t get a chance to prove his wellbeing in The Rehearsal Chase, departing at the first, and the slightly temperamental, but bound to pop up sooner or later, Beg To Differ, at the same price.
I’m a big fan of Top Wood, who would have went close at Cheltenham a couple of weeks back, but for being brought down, but he has other engagements at the weekend, and couldn’t be bet just now, even at the extremely generous 16’s. Same price appeals for Rocky Creek, and that just looks too big.
I’d slightly favour Summery Justice, but Top Wood and Rocky Creek would come into it. I’ll hold off.
I had narrowed it down to summary justice, beg to differ and 5 in a row. SJ aged of 12 pit me off and Jonjos total lack of winners put me off beg. Like 5 in a row as he has consisantly gone close off the same rating and it the first time he has had under 11st for ages. 16-1 seems big for me
Very disappointed that Summery Justice doesn’t go, as I was very keen on him, but at least no money wasted.
I’ll still have a bet though, and it‘ll be on Rocky Creek, 16’s looks too big.
I’d expect Conas Taoi to outrun his odds, but I’ll stick with just the one.
Court by Surprise goes well around here (albeit a bit too much 2nditus). Only thing puts me off is his age. Worth a punt on a mark of 130.
