CRIKEY; I think all my ante posts are still running [a result in itself Shame about Seabass though.
March 18, 2014 at 19:22 #472454And as I have said on the other thread, Geraghty will surely ride Triolo
Indeed you are right Homer, it was in my mind that McCoy rode him last time, but obviously that was because of circumstances, lets just say I’m not having a good day.
You mentioned about McCoy riding one of the umpteen McManus horses, I Haven’t trawled through them horse by horse, but has he many that will get in or likely to run bar Colbert Station. Alfie Sherrin if a good few pull out maybe, and Lost Glory who needs fewer to come out, but I don’t see him running and certainly now winning.
I’m putting the blinkers on for the rest of today in case I take any more wrong courses.
Looks like it will be either Colbert Station or Cantlow (Not Sure of his plans?) Sunnyhill Boy will get in but it’s touch and go as to whether he’d be able to do the weights, he did the same weight on Alfie Sherrin at Cheltenham (Alfie Sherrin is entered but won’t get in). I imagine McLernon may well ride Sunnyhill having finished 2nd on him previously so in all probability he’ll end up on Colbert.
cantlows has been scratched see my post above yours

March 18, 2014 at 19:45 #472460McCoy’s ride is a bit of a tricky one. I doubt he is too thrilled about the prospect of riding Colbert Station, who has shaped like a sick or unhappy horse more than once this season.
Sunnyhillboy has been McLernon’s ride, but obviously McCoy could reach out and take it if he wants it. Alfie Sherrin looks to be on the decline, but might have just been using Cheltenham as a warm-up. Lost Glory isn’t good enough, so it must be between those two imo.

What about Double Seven? Almost guaranteed to run, no?

I’m gutted about Seabass Moe, I only had the two ante post, Seabass and Tidal bay. I really thought Seabass had a cracking chance this year, what a pity.
Fingers crossed nothing untoward happens to Tidal Bay, or that’s me scuppered.March 18, 2014 at 20:58 #472475Noel Fehily seems like the most likely rider for Tiday Bay. No qualms there, he’s a favourite of mine… though if Twisters got the ride… i’d be very excited
Be ready to be excited then Peter because Nicholls quoted today in the RP as saying Sam TD highly likely to ride him.
On at 25s so quite chuffed with that myself

Yes just read the article! Topped up my bet accordingly Sam Twiston Davies and Sam Waley-Cohen are the best Aintree jockeys in the land, so being on Long Run and Tidal Bay leaves me feeling rather confident in a smug kind of way
March 19, 2014 at 16:30 #472546trainer of mossey joe today confirmed he will bypass national this year but run in topham instead, to see how he takes to fences

March 19, 2014 at 16:38 #472547list up to date as of Wednesday 19th march, 73 remained after second forfeit stage, and today mossey joes trainer confirmed he goes for the topham this year bypassing national for maybe next year

March 19, 2014 at 18:18 #472555Yes because they have all the time in the world given that he’ll only be a 12 year old next year should he take well to them this.

March 19, 2014 at 18:41 #472556Barry Connell is a strange man.
He spends an insane amount of money on a veteran hunter chaser, pulls him out of a weakish renewal of the Cheltenham Foxhunters, then takes him out of the Grand National too.
If the horse runs well in the Topham, he might be savaged by the assessor for next year’s weights. Then he will also be a year older and slower
IF
he stays sound. I don’t understand at all.
March 19, 2014 at 19:49 #472569It’s the Foxhunter he’s heading for, not the Topham, so his OR shouldn’t be unduly affected but completely agree it’s a weird affair all round.
£160k to run in a PTP and 2 hunter chases (assuming as envisaged he’ll head to Punchestown after Aintree) but then who knows what next year when he’s truly in the veteran stage.

Remember, the money is peanuts to him.
Not been back in training long – goes for Champion Hunter Chase at Stratford he won last year after Aintree and aim is the National next season.

March 20, 2014 at 00:00 #472615Using a few trends my shortlist has come down to
Wayward Prince, Godsmejudge, Monbeg Dude, Buckers Bridge and Chance Du Roy.
Anyone know if they are in fact alive and well and more importantly, intended runners? Ta!
March 20, 2014 at 00:09 #472618Godsmejudge has got some sort of stress problem [physical, that is]. Never heard of Buckers Bridge but Henry de Bromhead has never aimed a horse at the race before [has he??]. Going to look him up.
March 20, 2014 at 00:15 #472620Buckers Bridge is a decent sort moe, and not without a chance. JJM, he is at least alive and well, and also has an entry in The Topham. Owners also have Goonyella entered. He only qualified by finishing 3rd in his last race, and it wasn’t the worst line up. Only guessing, but I’d say Topham this year, National next year.
Chance Du Roy hasn’t been given a Topham entry which surely means the green light for The National.
I’d say only a disaster will stop Monbeg going.
Wayward Prince, don’t know.
March 20, 2014 at 00:46 #472622Don’t know much about Buckers Bridges sire Pelder but he has Lafontaine on the damside [Papillon, Spot and Ever Blessed] which is pretty good. Only an 8 year old though [and a young 8 year old; February foal] but he came 3rd to OHO in the Bobbyjo [@12 lengths if you take away difference in weight]. Bit interesting, that one.Wayward Prince is one of my current nightmare horses.
