Barry doesn’t often win by 10 lengths even when he could, he isn’t the type of jockey who asks horses to do more than they have to.
He seemed quite keen on making Big Zeb work harder than necessary in the 2010 Queen Mother.
You seem to be under the impression that Al Feorf has this blistering turn of foot that will carry him past Sprinter Sacre and up the Cheltenham Hill.
Yes, as I can’t recall ever seeing that before. Oh wait…………
Nicanor and Denman.

February 26, 2012 at 10:22 #393686The honestly believe the answer to the Sprinter Sacre V Al Ferof debate lies just after the 3rd last in the Supreme. One minute Sprinter Sacre is just in front of Al Ferof and a few strides later without being asked a thing he’s gone 4 lengths clear of him and Ruby can do absolutely nothing about it.
The fact Sprinter Sacre the baby went to pieces which allowed Al Ferof to go on and win is totally irrelevant. That was 12 months ago and Sprinter Sacre had matured into completely different horse and if anything ius even faster than he was. You can not say that about Alferof who in his last two races has found next nothing when needed.
Where anyone expects Al Ferof can find the speed from to even get into contention is beyond me. He could grab a place late on but I doubt it.
February 26, 2012 at 12:34 #393708The challenge for Geraghty will be when to let him go. This could be a fairly small field with Cue Card making the running. So long as there’s no mishaps with Cue Card, Geraghty should be able to wait until the turn for home to kick him on, but the way he’s travelled in recent races, he might be in front sooner than that
Can’t wait.

Will Cue Card be going fast enough? Andrew Tinkler was at a preview evening last week and said he thought Newbury was run at championship pace; the intention was to keep Sprinter in behind French Opera as long as possible but he breezed past without even trying.
If you want to beat him maybe you’re looking to set a moderate pace over the first few and hope he gets so frustrated he makes an error, or runs off and runs out of puff?
(edited to add – ah, it was Warwick Tinkler was at, didn’t see Ganjaman had kindly posted a write up)
February 26, 2012 at 17:04 #393765In today’s RP, Ruby said that Al Ferof could not have gone a yard faster last year – flat to the boards throughout.
He made the point that every race at the Festival is run at a cracking pace – jockeyship probably more important there than at any other meeting imo
February 26, 2012 at 19:15 #393786I.m not going to start name dropping but I have spent many an evening with jockeys who have ridden winners at the Festival but more importantly plenty of losers and they all agreed it is not just the pace but the sudden injections of pace that catches horses out
As Roseblossom points out Barry didn’t want to go so soon last time out the horse just took him there.
Sprinter Sacre has injected pace into all his races over fences so far without having to change gear and the minute he does it’s race over.
The ability to inject sudden changes in pace without even trying makes him the most dangerous opponent on the planet for any horse that turns up at Cheltenham, especially those that can’t quicken on a sixpence like Al ferof.
February 26, 2012 at 20:21 #393793Sprinter Sacre has injected pace into all his races over fences so far without having to change gear
Impossible.
He didn’t inject pace at Newbury either. What’s impressed people has been the ability to keep the revs up whilst travelling and jumping with ease.
I love the horse but you’re talking out of your earhole in a race to wax superlatives about him.
February 27, 2012 at 02:34 #393827I suggest you oo and watch the race before insulting people.
Barry never asked him a thing approaching the 3rd in the back straight. Travelling well within himself he has gone to the front and immediately put 3 to 4 lengths between himself and the rest.
Either the 4 behind all slowed down at the same time or Sprinter Scare had suddenly injected pace with no command from Barry to do so.
So what’s it to be brain of Britain. He injected pace effortlessly or all the other jockeys took a pull or slowed down.
The hole you are talking through isn’t your mouth and it certainly isn’t connected to your pea brain sunshine.
February 27, 2012 at 13:53 #393858And if that post was from Zarks you’d be throwing a hissy fit.
He’s a superb prospect. No need for hyperbole.
February 27, 2012 at 13:57 #393860No way would I have posted that. I put up with his Sprinter Sacre stuff for 6 weeks, I can’t take anymore.
Dream scenario – Cue Card, Peddler’s Cross, Menorah and Kid Cassidy go hell for leather. Al Ferof’s held up Zenyatta style. Sprinter Sacre’s really keen and jumps to the front and wears himself out after 1m 6f.
Or Kid Cassidy/Menorah falls and brings down Sprinter Sacre, although I obviously pray to God nobody is hurt.
Likelihood of either scenario; 10%.
Likelihood of Sprinter Sacre putting in a performance comparable with Master Minded in 2008; 60%
February 27, 2012 at 17:33 #393882Of course you have had enough. You had enough after my very first post about Sprinter Sacre the day he won his first race because I put a solid case up for the horse stating he was a much better horse than Al Ferof and that got your back up because you had backed Al Ferof every week since the last Festival and you knew your chances had just flown out the window so you took it out on me like a spoiled brat.
I must say I did love your defence below although I doubt it would stand up very well as the picture clears.
"Utterly baffled as to why there’s been so much hype around him today, crazy crazy crazy. The kind of horse that bookies love IMO.
More like the type of horse you hate. :0)
February 27, 2012 at 18:33 #393891Jesus christ, £105? You seriously think I had a go at you cos I’d staked £105, 90% of which is at 12s, the 10% at 10s (available to lay at 6s now)?
You’re the most pathetic person I’ve found on any forum. Nobody likes you. You get into arguments with everybody and you post the same copy & paste bullshit every single time. Piss off to the Betfair forum will you.
And don’t ****!ng kid yourself, you know full well you’re bullshitting about Sprinter Sacre. You weren’t a fan of his until the Doncaster race. You spent the entire summer fancying Menorah (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) – several posts on here confirm that. How much have you staked on him exactly?
You lied about getting on at 10/1 and you lie about almost everything. You’re full of **** – that’s why people argue with you.
I was very happy ignoring your posts with you ignoring mine – so what’s the ****!ng point of suddenly having another go at me? Mark gave the horse a compliment. I gave the horse a compliment. But you suddenly fly off the handle yet again!
Honestly, you are a sad, sad man. How much did you lose on Canford Cliffs exactly? £20,000? Or was it more? Or were you lying like you are now about Sprinter Sacre?
p.s. This is the bit where you completely go off on one, calling for me to be banned for using offensive language, happily avoiding the 4 or 5 posts in which you also swore.
p.p.s. Your horse will more than likely win, but can you possibly comprehend how much joy it will bring me to see him lose, just so I don’t have to put up with your crud anymore? You know what price and what stake I’ve got on him to win next year’s Queen Mum, but I would love nothing more than for him to lose the Arkle and get beaten by Sizing Europe next year.
February 27, 2012 at 19:03 #393900Uh-oh, Hurdy’s still browsing the forum…his reply should be a good laugh. What are you going to do, copy and paste every single post you’ve made about Sprinter Sacre into one huge post & then rant about him for another 6000 words? You old fool.
Was it £25,000 you lost on Canford Cliffs? Surely you remember?
February 27, 2012 at 19:09 #393902Ha ! Just been reading those posts about Menorah – basically thought it was almost unbeatable.
I’ve also read a post where he says that Sprinter Sacre was never meant to win the Supreme, and yet in another post he says if you run that race again ( then, not now ), Sprinter Sacre wins on the bridle.
Not one mention i can see that implies he backed SS before it ran at Doncaster. Firmly in the Menorah camp.
February 27, 2012 at 19:11 #393903Uh-oh, Hurdy’s being found out for the lying git he is!
What are you going to do now? Put £20,000 on Sprinter Sacre? Can you afford to lose that after Canford Cliffs in the Morny?
February 27, 2012 at 19:14 #393904The first 25 seconds sound like something you would say, Hurdy.
