Now maybe some non believers will start to think this could be not the best since Arkle but another Arkle.

He never settled wich would have most horses beat by 3 out yet he wins like its a stroll in the park

Let me just say it again….Best novice chaser I have ever seen.

    Roll on the Arkle!!!

Extremely impressive performance. Extremely. If he can replicate that on an undulating course with other horses taking him on, very difficult to see him getting beaten.

I even wonder whether they’ll supplement him for the Queen Mum. Maybe they’ll regret not entering him earlier and not keeping Finian’s Rainbow in the Ryanair.

WOW that was impressive, I’d be thinking of taking on Sizing Europe, the rest of the Champion field would be easy.
I’m a huge Sizing Europe fan but this fellow would really worry me, anywhere but Cheltenham I think I’d expect Sprinter to beat SE, maybe even at Cheltenham.

If he runs in The Arkle surely Peddler’s Cross will be re-routed to The Jewson, whether he ran to form or not at Kempton, I doubt he did, he’s too much of a stayer to trouble Sprinter Sacre, no point in chasing him round for place money

Sprinter was very good there. I agree he should go fo the Champion…….. more from my AP bet on Peddlers Cross than any tactics !! :D

Just when you thought the Arkle looked all over…For Non Stop comes along and gives Al Ferof and Cue Card a lovely big form boost.

I think the Jewson field just got even bigger after that performance from SS.

Watched it three times now. Beautiful, brilliant, bold jumping from a horse that has raced three times over fences

The test is yet to come.

Awesome performance although I’d be ever so slightly worried that he may need to make all in the Arkle.

He does seem more than up to the job however.

    Sprinter Sacre
    Al Ferof
    Cue Card
    Peddlers Cross
    Grands Crus
    Siviniaco Conti
    Bobs Worth

What a fantastic time for novice chasers and how great to see all the leading contenders form the start of the season fit and performing as hoped – also throw in For Non Stop who seems to be helping tie up the form lines perfectly.

Even Menorah is unbeaten when he’s stayed on his feet.

Hats off to Big Bucks and the Hurricane for helping make this the greatest novice chase scene I can ever remember and I can’t wait for the overseas arrival of Bog Warrior et al.

Maybe it’s the over excitement of the proximity to the festival or a great days racing today but I’ve never been so confident before my annual first day pilgrimage as I am with Sprinter Sacre, Hurricane Fly and Quevega.

Could Simonsig (if absent Steps To Freedom) and Hold On Julio really make it this easy ?

Add in Sizing Europe and Big Bucks and this could either be an awesome March or a very expensive one !

I’m sorry for banging on about him yet again, but I think Invictus will launch himself into that group tomorrow as well.

But you’re right, I have a slight concern about the overall quality of that group you mentioned, but if nothing else it makes for some extremely competitive and interesting racing.

Was looking at Solix’s profile again last night and he seems very good coming off a break, so looks like Hendo’s doing the right thing by giving him 2 1/2 months off. Could be very good as well I think.

Zarks, bet you are hoping sir des moves to the rsa with solix???

I forgot i had that little nibble thanks to you. Maybe i should just increase my interest in him as insurance.

Regarding the first day which is my favourite. Supreme, I’v covered half the field and the wrong half no doubt. total mess.

Arkle on Alferof, Sprinter looks king – Loss i am sure of it.

Chase, I am looking at a few and hope to make a little on this. Bottom half of the weights should do it.

CH relying on ROR without hurricane.

Mares race, quevega in loads of multiples

Cross country Scots irish looks to have a great shout.

Centenary, All over two horses, one being havingotascobydoo, the other Ackertac.

Probably be potless after that. Can’t wait!!!!!

Sprinter will win the arkle i am so confident on it and not a penny down. price has gone.

Not worried about Sir Des Champs at all. Personally feel he’s been very overrated on the back of a couple of victories which were more to do with style than substance.

My main Jewson worry is probably For Non Stop after today, but truth be told I’m not so concerned about him either.

Still like the horse that beat solix. i know they will about level on weights. Champion court is the better jumper.

Sketti, I’ve told many people this before but I’ll say it once again for you ;)

Watch the race again. Concentrate on Solix’s jumping. Somewhere down the back, you’ll suddenly see Solix jump one perfectly. Thereafter he is hoof-perfect. It was his first test against the big ones and just needed half a race to learn how to jump at speed as opposed to going slowly in egg-and-spoon races.

Looking at his profile, I’d also say he seems to be much better when fresh, and Champion Court won’t be able to dominate the way he did in the Dipper.

Took it on board when you said it before. I have to say I am a big fan of Solix, craking effort in some hurdle races last season.

Should go close. That form could get a massive boost by invictus which is what you’ll be hoing for no doubt.

Not sure about Invictus, could be another Walkon. Very disappointing again.

I’m surprised to see him as big as 8s. I think I’m going to have a tiny nibble on that.

Shack, he could be anything. He’s had 3 starts over fences and nobody had heard of him before his chasing debut. Bit different to Walkon.

Tom Segal thinks that Bog Warrior is the best novice chaser seen out this season.

I think he needs to get hold of some contacts and watch that race at Newbury today.

As far as the Renoyldstown tomorrow is concerned, winners of the race tend to have a dreadful record in the RSA. It looks a toss-up between Bob’s worth, Silviano Conti, and Invictus. Given that Invictus is the longest priced of those trio, he’d probably be the pick, but it wouldn’t be a race to be confident about.

Can we talk about the Jewson and RSA on the correct threads.

Reverting to the Arkle as I have him at reasonable prices I would be quite happy to see Sprinter Sacre win easily but I still have big doubts.

Everything went right today and although he won easily the winning distance wasn’t that great and it is guesswork as to what would have happened if something had mounted a serious challenge. Given the level of opposition Gerraghty was able to let him race quite freely – the judgement of pace will be that much more difficult if he takes a tug in a better race. The greatest concern though is what happens if he makes a mistake and comes off the bridle – can anyone actually envisage him being in the lead being passed and battling back to win? He is probably the most interesting runner on the opening day but I wouldn’t dream of backing him at current prices.
