Absolutely stunning. What a run. Cruising 2 out. Rip Van Who? Total joke horse.
November 8, 2009 at 00:13 #257749A total over reaction calling him a total joke horse especially with his Eclipse run, a rush of blood maybe, when yoou look at the European breeding they dont do very well in the Classic so its not a surprise Rip van Winkle failed to fire, would you call Galileo a total joke horse after his very disappointing run in the Classic, Sakhee, Giants Causeway, Raven’s Pass and Henrythenavigator are US bred, and Rip Van Winkle destroyed Conduit if memory serves correct, I think Sea The Stars would have probably even lost in the Classic and Oxx pulls a masterstroke not sending him.
To the winner, what a training performance to take home both the Classics, and Zenyatta’s career almost compares like a US Zarkava somewhat beating the colts first time. Maybe a good horse to breed STS with.
November 8, 2009 at 00:23 #257752Galileo beat notable horses, won notable races and won a notable treble of races.
What the hell has Rip done in comparison? Sod bleeding all. He is a total hype horse. Pathetic PR attempt by Coolmore all year to build him up as a stallion. Waste of time listening to anything that comes out of that stable.
Anyway, Zenyatta was stunning and beat a stunning field. A shame Sea The Stars, Rachel Alexandra and Sea The Stars didn’t run, but a great race nonetheless.
Wallace – because most of his horses aren’t good enough and they’re just placed very well to win good races against poor horses. When the chips are down, they show their true colours.

One Sea The Stars, there’s only one Sea The Stars, etc etc
November 8, 2009 at 01:04 #257779I was more disappointed with Radiohead’s poor performance than any. He was a banker for me; with Man of Iron. But I began to have doubts about him.
Seems Americans or Brit visitors for the meet piled in on their PMU, so I wasn’t alone in fancying it.
What a character that Zenyatta! I like girls to pay that kind of attention to me – the attention she was giving her ponying chum. What a flirt! I thought they were waltzing at one stage.
November 8, 2009 at 01:16 #257781Rip Van Wink is 10/1 on the US parimutuel at the moment.
US bettors not too inspired with Ballydoyle form so far.Good on them I say – took a lot of balls to wind RVW out to such a long price, only to see it hammered back to 4s nearing post time.
November 8, 2009 at 03:57 #257796Rip Van Winkle I wouldn’t say is a joke. He obviously has issues and big ones at that. I don’t know if any of you have ever been to SA but this course is blistering hot with sneakers on and I can imagine what it feels like for a horse. If he has sensitive feet this could not have helped any. To win as many group ones as he had he can’t be a joke. If so can someone please send me a joke horse like him? Bad feet or not. LOLOL

ENJOY!
Dell Yount
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0950306/November 8, 2009 at 09:16 #257809EVW is a very good horse. He came a close 2nd in the hottest of hot Eclipses. But apart from that run and his sussex win admittedly his overall profile is FAR from convincing and the hype has been all a bit much. Let him do his talking on the track. Overall I just think he is a fundamentally ‘soft’ horse and physically un-sound, and this has stopped him from showing his full ability consistently.
If he is as special as they say they should keep him in training and let us see it next year!
November 8, 2009 at 15:02 #257895Overall, I think this was a thoroughly enjoyable Breeders’ Cup.
Six winners for ‘Team Europe’, icluding back-to-back successes for Goldikova and Conduit, while Midday provided Henry Cecil with his first BC winner.
Then, of course, we had Zenyatta becoming the first filly / mare to win the BC Classic in front of her adoring public.
A great way to finish the meeting.
A few stats from the meeting:

I’m sure MTB will be a much better horse off the synthetics – he seemed to hate every minute of it and he looks an absolute picture too.
November 8, 2009 at 20:45 #257957Geesh Badactor you got around yesterday!!! I often wondered what it would be like to take shots from that side for the turf sprint. If I had a tall ladder it would be even better seeing how it’s on a hill and then the fenceline. But totally cool shots!!! Thanks! I loved the one of the people on the mountainside with their horses watching the races. That is a cool vantage point. Probably very enjoyable too.
