This is my take on Godolphin.
I think we are stronger this year in the Classic than last year. Last year we had Curlin. One horse. No Big Brown (I’m holding back vommit at the mention because of IEAH and Dutrow… but will manage). This year we have 2 classic winners in Mine That Bird and Summer Bird which as of now the latter is the stronger of the two. We don’t have a clear top older male in here but we do have a few that have knocked each other around for a few races and several are based in CA (Colonel John, Richard’s Kid and Einstein). Then there is Zenyatta. So at least in this race we are loaded more than last year. I’m more worried about Rip Van Winkle than Girolamo. A mistake? Maybe.
The F&M Classic is one race where Godolphin could win and is kind of expected to with Music Note. She’s strong and on a winning streak. The only thing I don’t like about her are the odds. LOLOL
Sara Louise is a possible upsetter in the F&M Sprint for them though she will have to run the race of her life to get by Ventura and Informed Decision.
Mastery has a brilliant shot in the Marathon IMO and he is a horse I will put in my combinations when picking. I’m rooting for Coudy’s Knight and all of Jonathan Sheppard’s horses.
Can they sweep? Anything is possible but I don’t think they will. Besides the American’s you have your own contenders to deal with too. Can the Europeans sweep? It’s possible but again I don’t think they will. They certainly will win and probably several each day.
November 6, 2009 at 10:44 #257396I have extremely limited interest in this glorified all-weather meet and will be more than delighted next year when it returns to its proper surface, but I’ve picked out 6 horses for a cheap Lucky 63;
Father Time
Forever Together
Proviso
Cannonball
Spanish Moon

This eight-runner field should produce a cracking little contest.
Midday, placed in two Classics behind Sariska and winner of the Nassau Stakes, will be the sole European Challenger for Henry Cecil.
The exciting winner of last years renewal, Forever Together, takes her chance again and expect her to arrive on the scene very late on.
The same can be expected of the improving 4YO, Magical Fantasy, bidding for a five-timer. She will renew rivalry with the former Sir Michael Stoute-trained Visit, who finished fourth in this race last year.
The score is currently 3 – 1 in favour of the Patrick Gallagher-trained horse.
Dynaformer and Pure Clan, both well beaten in this event last year, will bid to improve on there eighth and tenth-placed efforts, respectively.
The admirably consistent, Rutherienne, twice beaten by Forever Together, and Maram, winner of the Juvenile Fillies Turf last year, complete the field.
This appears to be a clash between the two late challengers, Forever Together and Magical Fantasy.
Magical Fantasy is an improving filly, facing her toughest challenge thus far. Three-times the conqueror of Visit (no wins since joining Bobby Frankel), she travels well in her races, posseses a fine turn of speed and can tough it out at the business end.
Her narrow margin victories don’t do her justice. I would expect her to be produced mid-stretch.
Forever Together will be played even later. Many have considered her disappointing this year with a few high profile defeats, particularly on her last two starts, but she has to come late and that makes her a tough ride when things don’t fall right for her.
It’s interesting that her last victory came in the Diana Stakes. A race she was winning for the second year in succession. When given her ideal conditions, she can use that explosive turn of foot to devastating effect. Despite her two draw, expect her to come very wide round the final bend.
Can she reel in the likes of Magical Fantasy, who is no slouch, capable of grinding out a victory?
Visit has been something of an enigma this season. She looked for all the world like she needed this trip when a fast-finishing third in the Matriarch Stakes over eight furlongs, passing Magical Fantasy late-on.
I would have expected her to beat that filly over a longer trip, but Magical Fantasy has defeated her three times since, over nine and ten furlongs, respectively.
She has been held-up on occasions, arriving too late on the scene, but has also raced up with the pace, only to be collared late on.
I expect Velazquez to make full use of her position in stall one. She won’t be too far back and will lauch an attack turning in.
Dynaforce can go from the front, but there is no natural front-runner in the field and that will not suit Midday.
I can see her staying on without really landing a blow against the likes of Forever Together and Magical Fantasy. Two speedier types who could really have a ding-dong battle in the last furlong.
I expect Forever Together to collar Magical Fantasy late-on, with Midday keeping on in third.

I’ll probably have one or two bets as events unfold over the next two days, but for now I’m content to limit my (financial) interest to
Blind Luck
(9.45 Friday) and
Music Note
(11.45 Friday).
Nite Light (8.35) and Magical Fantasy (10.23) were two others I considered backing this evening.
November 6, 2009 at 19:28 #257485Smart Seattle tonight will be my strongest bet of the Meeting I think. Really fancy her to win.
Overall I think the Yanks are going to dominate but think godolphin are going with a powerful hand, and I’m genuinely surprised no-one seems to fancy Twice Over in the Classic. Think this is the perfect race for him, and wouldnt be one bit surprised if he pulls it off. At 16-1 reckon he’s a cracking e/w shot.

This is another intriguing contest, with question marks hanging over the two leading fancies.
Careless Jewel has won her two previous starts by a total of 14 1/2L, looking smooth and progressive in the process.
However, both of those victories have come on dirt and despite early victories on the synthetic surface, she has yet to prove herself on it against top class opposition.
The same can be said of Music Note, who has looked very impressive on her last two visits to the track. She finished third behind Zenyatta and Cocoa Beach in this race last year and I see no reason why she should reverse placings with the latter, who is 4lbs better for her 1 1/2L advantage.
Cocoa Beach has been a bit in and out this year. She was beaten a neck by Lethal Heat in the Lady’s Secret, where they found Zenyatta too good once again.
Course winner Lethal Heat has not won for over a year, but has been keeping good company. She was beaten only a length by Zenyatta in the Clement L Hirsch and proved that to be no fluke with another fine effort behind that mare in the Lady’s Secret.
She can ride up with the pace or settle mid-div and it will be interesting to see which tactics connections favour today.
Rainbow View proved without doubt that she has trained-on this season and this is probably her optimum trip.
I’m just not convinced this diminutive filly has the strength to maintain a challenge late stretch. She was ran out of it in late on in the E P Taylor and I can see the same thing happening here.
There looks sure to be a good pace. Careless Jewel and Music Note both like to be up there and Lethal Heat could make life uncomfortable for the pair of them if connections decide to.
It should set the race up for a horse that comes from off the pace with a solid turn of foot and that horse could be Proviso.
Won on merit in the Spinster Stakes from Mushka, who was later awarded the race.
The previously French-trained filly ran both Goldikova and Zarkava to 4 1/2L in the Rothschild (8F) and Diane (11F), respectively, and that form should see her go very close.
I think the two leading fancies have it all to prove and take Proviso to gain ample compensation for her DQ last time out. The consistent Lethal Heat normally finds one too good, but loves this surface and boasts solid recent efforts. Along with Cocoa Beach, their Lady’s Secret form reads very well and they can fill the minor placings, with preference for the former, who is available at very good odds.

November 6, 2009 at 21:23 #257507I’m so proud of Cloudy’s Knight. Rosemary was really upset that he lost but I think she rode him perfectly and should not be disappointed. He ran his big 9 year old heart out.
Tapitsfly wins the Juv Fillies Turf. Smart Seattle had to check hard going into the turn. Lost all momentum after that. I love the Tapits. He really stamps his horses grey. LOLOL

LOLOL That’s because it’s Friday. LOLOL Sorry I had to say that. LOLOL
November 6, 2009 at 22:30 #257515Terrific effort by Queally and Cecil…heartwarming
November 6, 2009 at 22:38 #257516I always think the BC is more about wanting to see certain horses and connections win rather than financial involvement (too many factors and impossible form lines for me) and that result was the one I wanted
