SwallowCottage, no the commission has not been taken into account. Will have to devise a formular in Excel to mirror the steady growth in profits and adjust the comm rate.
Been to Barbados so will just look at buying a better place in France than I currently have my eye on. ;)
Forgot to add Disclosure Protocol [ON]

December 28, 2006 at 18:34 #34563Don’t want t be greedy Alan. Just a small place with six bedrooms a pool and sea view over the Med will do for me.
December 28, 2006 at 18:40 #34564I tried this with a target of 5% per day from one bet only for fun. Got up to about €200 from a starting point of €20 mostly from backing favourites to place and also football teams. Went belly up when a couple lost in a row and lost my nerve then.
Best of luck Wallace and you should start a running thread in either this section or systems where we can all keep a track of your progress (and tell you where you went wrong of course!)
December 28, 2006 at 18:43 #34565Yes David I’ll have a go and post progress notes. I ‘m not thinking of tying to bet winners with this trial but simply to trade 2 or 3 ticks on favourites and nick a few quid. Want to be in an out within a couple of minutes.

All the best, but i see you encountering queue jumpers, momentum traders etc as the stakes rise, thus making it difficult to get matched, particularly in weaker markets
How do you intend to overcome this problem?
December 28, 2006 at 19:16 #34567Best of luck: I fear you will need it.
This sort of thing might work for relatively modest amounts, but eventually you will have to trade much larger sums in markets where the liquidity is insufficient to support the trades. However, there may be other strategies that can be used to achieve this steady growth – I’m fairly sure some players in the financial markets will have been able to grow their capital at a spectacular rate, probably not as much as 2% a day, but perhaps doubling the bank every six months.
December 28, 2006 at 20:11 #34568I am fully aware of the problems getting matched for decent amounts. Even with Betfair the midweek liquidity is low. This project is just for fun unless, its still going by September!

All the best, look forward to reading how your getting on
December 29, 2006 at 09:47 #34570What’s a ‘momentum trader’?
December 29, 2006 at 10:38 #34571Momentum traders/bots simply follow the money and movement in odds. They often attempt to leapfrog a particuarly big bet/lay. These fuel a lot of the strange market moves particuarly drifters.

around for 2% when you can buy the Brimardon System (see page 6 of today’s Racing Post – "we are still here after 22 years" (will the wag in the back row who said "so is AIDS" please pipe down)). Alternatively, there’s the Melchior System (page 31 of today’s RP) – "81% strike-rate". 2% – you losers! :biggrin:December 31, 2006 at 14:32 #34573Fair point Mounty ..
2% should be a breeze, especially if you know your spreadsheets.
