I doubt that consideration was foremost in the minds of our adopted children’s birth parents; nor is it the fault of the children themselves that they exist.
Incidentally, I’m old enough to remember the brief furore surrounding the release in 1995 of Reproduction is Pollution, a single by Shelley which took the previous poster’s basic thrust and ruminated upon it further. A deliberately obtuse music press (from memory it was Melody Maker in particular), minded at the time to apply a scorched earth policy to anything which didn’t fit neatly into the prevailing unthinking and hedonistic Britpop idiom, cast band and single as the eugenicists they were not and never will be.
There’s nothing new under the (gradually heating) sun.
