Reform’s hypothesis appears to be that drastically cutting benefits will make immigrants go back home
The biggest problem that hypothesis will have is when it meets reality and, like most of their other ‘policies’, turns out to be based on complete hokum.
They were even blaming hosepipe bans on immigrants recently. It would almost be funny if it wasn’t so serious.
Such ‘get on with it and build’ thinking is what’s needed now.
A proactive rather than reactive approach to a lot of issues would be sensible. Sadly governments are largely incapable of looking beyond the end of their parliamentary term, the next one if you’re lucky and in opposition they all just shout from the sidelines without offering any realistic solutions.
