I looked into the history yesterday and discovered that Liverpool alone had four greyhound tracks: White City, Stanley Park, Breck Park and Seaforth (just outside the city boundaries if we are being picky).
I knew about the first two but not the latter pair. Looking on a map, Breck Park can’t have been very far from the White City.
They are all a distant memory. White City was the last to close, as long ago as 1973. Wikipedia reports that “only 700 people” turned up to watch greyhound racing end in Liverpool. I expect some of the remaining tracks would love a crowd that size now!
There was talk of a track opening in Fazakerley a few years ago but it amounted to nothing.
