I could write a whole page about the things that Johnson did, both before and after becoming PM ( which, imo he should never have been if only because of his relationship with Lebedev) which resulted in him standing down. But people, sadly, only remember the cake. On a quite petty point I still can’t understand why the conservatives with a small c of this country welcomed a PM into no 10 who moved in with his girlfriend after leaving his wife ( who was undergoing treatment for cancer) and four children; and I’m saying that as a child of the sixties and don’t regard myself prudish in any way. Bit like the American electorate forgetting about Trump and Stormy Daniel’s (when his wife was pregnant). Everyone ( even me ) thought that Johnson’s bumbling forgetfulness was just a facade and that, underneath was a man of great intellect who would become statesmanlike once in office. The Peppa Pig speech was the final nail in that coffin.
