Even in that ground the trip (3m) was too short for him and it does seem that his love for the game has exited stage left.
Mr Vango cut out extremely tamely as well but I think the trip again was more the issue along with the winner going too quick for him – not an ideal run for a Grand National attempt and I would expect a much better run in the Haydock National Trial on 14 February which at 3m4f (and likely soft Haydock ground) will be much more likely to suit his style.
