There is only one superpower these days and this is China. Anyone who watched UK’s ‘Race Across the World’ with the first three episodes in China will have seen how advanced this country is compared to the USA. Bullet trains faster than aircraft over inter city distances compared to the USA running 80yo trains. USA’s infrastructure is dilapidated.
The USA has been subsidised by the world when international trade was in dollars; but thanks to BRICS this advantage is fading fast. In particular, Canada has been providing cheap energy and basic raw materials to the USA for decades. In the future when the USA has to pay market prices they will not be able to cope.
The reason the evil and arrogant Trump has been throwing his weight around is that the USA are panicking big time. They have not been competing for decades and they won’t start anytime soon.
The UK has a stark choice. Support Canada and Carney’s middle power concept or continue grovelling to the USA. If it chooses the latter the UK will deteriorate to being a third world country along with the USA. The alternative is to become a sovereign state and move forward.
