Dee Thompson’s paddock watcher’s list #4
This is the list of maidens that have caught my eye in the parade ring in the last 10 days and in my opinion have the build and scope and attitude to progress and either win next time out or ones to keep an eye on, and in the right company will definitely be winning races.
I just want to mention a horse I flagged up previously, CELESTIAL FORCE, a horse trained by Tom Dascombe. I was so impressed with him physically when I first saw him at Newcastle and couldn’t believe his original price of 33-1, starting price of 16-1 and he won, that’s the power of the paddock! I have seen him again at Thirsk recently, looking even better, and winning again, and I have to say he is the nicest looking maiden I’ve seen in the north so far this season.
COSMIC LAW – A lovely 2 year old colt trained by Richard Fahey, a nice type in the paddock, he won his novice over 5f at Carlisle, should be winning more races
ALOYSIUS LILIUS – A really nice 2 year old gelding trained by Kevin Ryan was a close second to Cosmic Law at Carlisle Cheltenham Betting Tips and has the scope to win races, one to keep an eye on.
COOLAGH MAGIC – Liked this one in the paddock at Ripon, A well built good looking 2 year old colt trained by Richard Fahey, didn’t show greenness in the paddock, but did act up at the start and didn’t take part in the race. If they sort out his pre-race antics, and he matures mentally he looks the type physically being capable of winning races.
AKELA MOON – A nice looking 2 year old filly trained by Richard Fahey. I liked her in the paddock at Thirsk and ran well to be beaten by a Newmarket raider in a 5f maiden, one to look out for maybe next time out.
KEY TO POWER – A lovely big strong 2 year old filly trained by Mark Johnson, was second to a Haggas trained horse at Thirsk over 5f she could be winning soon.
YOUSINI – A nice big strong 2 year old colt trained by Kevin Ryan won a 5f maiden at Hamilton. Was green at first but finished well coming between two horses close to the finish to win cosily, this one should definitely be winning more races soon.
PORT OF LEITH – A nice 2 year old colt trained by Mark Johnson, had the worst draw but ran on well to be second to Yousini at Hamilton, should be winning soon.
HOLY WINGS – A lovely big and strong 3 year old colt trained by Tim Easterby, a one to note when he runs in handicaps
EVANGELINE SAMOS – A big strong 2 year old filly trained by Kevin Ryan, green and slowly away at York should improve and has the scope to go on to win races
AL EMARAT – A big strong 3 year old trained by Kevin Ryan. I really like this one physically, has some greenness to iron out, but physically looks like he should be winning races soon.
NATALIE’S JOY – A big strong 2 year old filly trained by Mark Johnson, won first time out at Goodwood cosily, should be winning again soon, one to follow
MORE THAN THIS – A nice 2 year old colt trained by Richard Fahey won at Ayr by 3 lengths, should be winning again soon.
DIVINER – A huge 2 year old filly trained by Mark Johnson has won at Wolverhampton, was only 3rd at Catterick last time out, but I feel she has the scope to win races so deserves a place on the list, really loved her size and scope.
I’LL HAVE ANOTHER – A big strong 2 year old filly trained by Mark Johnson finished 2nd to a Tom Dascombe horse over 6f at Redcar has a staying pedigree, looked really fit, should be winning very soon
THE GREAT HEIR – A big strong 2 year old colt trained by Kevin Ryan won over 5f at Redcar may do better even over 6f one that should be winning more races
TICK TOCK CROCK – A nice type, a 2 year old colt trained by Bryan Smart ran well, one to look out for when it goes into handicaps.
RODDY – A 4 year old maiden gelding trained by Tom Tate chased home a David Lanigan filly who is entered in the Irish Oaks, beating the rest of the field by 9 lengths, was big and scopey, a horse that looks to have a race in him, maybe when he runs in handicaps.
PLENTIFUL – This big strong gorgeous looking 3 year old colt a half brother to Postponed trained by Luca Cumani, although physically standing out in the paddock at Redcar definitely looked like he would need the race and could do with tightening up, he ran a bit green but was running on at the end to finish 4th, one to note possibly next time out.
